I believe Dave plans to upgrade. But not just yet.
At the moment he is focusing mainly on the model edits (making them look better) the TS2 script on HL2 Server.

Then, my assumption, he plans to look into upgrading.

If you are so desperate for Dave to upgrade, help him out! Donate a bit more than usual, or if Dave could post up Donation target to hit by the end of a month then we could all Donate towards that.
Then Dave will be stressing less about the cost of the upgrade.

We want to be running an i7 Quad Core with HT, making it 8 cores, powering at around 3.2ghz

Find out how much it'll be to upgrade to an I7. Calculate how much it'll cost monthly/yearly (which ever works out cheaper) and post up a target donation goal.

This is fine in theory but consider things like this dont usually last. Without the support of people like you or deejay etc - paying for more expensive hosting in the long term is not a viable option.

If you're running a quad core, something is seriously wrong. Take a picture of the Task manager on both the process and performance tab. Also, i7s aren't actually 8 cores. 4 are virtual cores. However, it'd be a substantial upgrade over what you have, especially if it's one of brand new ones. The clock speed on some of the i7s are lower, but they're still better. L3 cache, etc. etc. GGL had a 2.66 GHz i7
Though we also had a 1gbps line, so we could play with the rates on garrysmod to make things smoother.
