Upgrading PC - Need help (I live in the UK)

Damn, I usually like to get in on these threads, looks like I'm a little late, but i'm gonna drop some comments anyway. ASRock is a shady brand some times, and I'm board with you there, but that doesn't mean he can't still get a decent overclock out of his CPU. I've seen 3.8 to 4.6ghz...

Final opinion on specs before purchase of new PC

Are you intending on overclocking at all? From reading your thread, I just assume you don't have a lot of knowledge in it, but that could be wrong. At any rate, if you aren't going to overclock, drop the heatsink and thermal compound. You won't need them.

    Need laptop help.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834230141 Comes with a free xbox 360, appears to be in your price range, and will do you good. If you can up your budget a bit:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834230404 I don't know what you're rocking for a desktop...

    My PC is crapping out...

It's funny, because that's shitloads of money and both the Asus laptop in the first post, or the Samsung I recommended will best it. Personally I don't think it has $1000 worth of aesthetic value.

    My PC is crapping out...

I haven't been following the gaming laptop side of things over the last little while, but Asus makes solid products. The laptop you linked looks like a good gaming rig, so long as you don't mind lugging around the 17" screen, and a 500gb hard disk is large enough for you. There is also...

It's all a matter of motherboard compatability, mostly just whether or not the slot is blocked off by the video card. If you are using the mobo I recommended, you'll be fine.

Upgrading my PC a bit, help?

The card will work for games like Arma, it's just not exactly the best card to toss money at. If you have to go cheap, though, then by all means go for it.

Upgrading my PC a bit, help?

I would suggest opening your budget up just a little. That card will work, but just knock out a couple more bucks for something slightly higher end. A GTS 450 would cover you for such games, and is a reasonably solid card. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127605 Slap...

Overclocking should be saved for enthusiasts. Partially because it risks your hardware and requires prior knowledge. The other reason is that it's only going to cost you further on cooling, and in the end, does not tend to compare to owning a stock product of higher quality.

It all comes down to whether or not you mind dropping your settings in the potential near future. Metro 2033, for instance, will not run at it's max settings and still achieve 30fps on a 570. It will on a 670. Other games may end up a bit choppy as well. As of late, games have been pushing...

The 670 outperforms the 580, and consumes less power and creates less heat than the 570. The difference between the 670 and 570 is huge, and it will make a difference in the near future of games, all for a $100 difference. I would highly recommend it. Aside from which, I already said if it was...

Here ya go. It's $1300 before shipping. If that's too much, drop the 670 for this 570. The 670 is one hell of a card though, so definitely consider it. Edit: Yuck, the host I used manually checks pages. Guess Ill just have to give you a gross link list. Try the link above first, as it's much...
