occupation is better for rp, if you go into combat without having done basic training, time at the rear, previous battles etc. you're just putting a bunch of shallow event characters together and getting nothing out of it. combat itself is neither fun to roleplay (especially at tnb) and nor is it going to give your shallow characters any development, because they don't have any bonds with their section which are put under strain by fire or death.

if you want combat just go play a shooter together, it's more fun and takes less time

because i'm a generous genius i'll give you this one for free. it's longterm, because honestly short-term rp strikes me as pointless, you're playing avatars or ports of your other characters in a contextless setting.

german-occupied france, 1944

spend a few weeks (maybe months if it goes well) with people roleplaying locals and german troops billeted in their homes, hopefully people aren't spastics and actually look up how the german occupation of france went before acting out their weird murder porn fantasies, relationships form and characters develop

at an indeterminate point and with minimal ooc warning, our quiet rural norman village of benouville finds itself in the midst of heavy fighting as gliderloads of the ox & bucks light infantry come spilling out of the hedges across the caen canal...

There was a Nutscript server up awhile ago that was set in Poland, that was a fun time

had a Wehrmacht Soldat who was absolutely terrified of the SS Major, since he saw him line abunch of supposed "Judens" against the wall and just fuckin' capped them

There was also that event where some french Resistance rigged a Tiger to blow up, and my guy was trying to save a Citizen from bleeding to death from the explosion

i would be surprised if there isn't a map out there somewhere for a source game with the benouville bridge + town itself, i seem to recall playing a custom map of it in dod:s once about a decade ago
