Recently I've made a decision on what I'm upgrading to. Just to note I'm getting it done at a local shop (I am shit with PC's).

Will be getting a GTX 560 TI 1GB GDDR5, another 4 GB of RAM (Currently I have 1.9 GB DDR3), a 750 Watt PSU and I'm also thinking of getting an ATX case for just 19.99 and getting them to put all my shit in there, thus I'll have more room and "breathing space". I can't afford to upgrade my i3 550 3.2 Ghz as well, though TBH I don't think I really need to. Will all this be enough?

i3 is going to hold you back a bit. Processor is everything.

I've seen several vids on youtube of people with an i3-GTX 560 TI mix and they looked pretty decent.

Regardless, it's quite outdated and getting at least an i5 would be much better.

Hyperthreaded dual core at 3.2Ghz. More than enough for gaming right now.

The i3 and i5 series were released at the same time, which was this time last year. The only newer i5's are the Sandy Bridge models, but that would also require a mobo swap.

Also, 1.9GB of DDR3? I think someone has their specs wrong :P

i run skyrim, and saints row on max settings without lag.

i have a Pentium dual core.

those games aren't graphically intensive. P

skyrim looks like shit maxed out, it can't compare to glorious dx11 master race crysis 2. i mean, come on bethesda, at least put some effort into skyrim. and how are you running saints row on pc? i thought it was only for xbox 360, that is unless you mean saints row 3 in which you should have stated.

I have 2GB physical, 1.9GB that I can actually use.

Yeah but they're CPU intensive, considering they're both open world with a fuckton of NPCs.

So many people in here who have no fucking idea what they are talking about.

You'll be fine with your i3. Put the money towards the video card.

fuck my brain hurts reading half these threads, why are you going to gimp yourself with a shit case that youll have to upgrade again when you actually want to toss some decent hardware into your rig, i dont understand this idea, you want to better set yourself up for the future, not to keep dwelling in the past

oh and, put it together yourself, it's not rocket science and your gonna save a lot of money doing it yourself too

Myers is right, though that's hardly any surprise. Cheap case and, as a guess, a cheap PSU will make you regret it later. Goes without saying, but make sure you upgrade to a 64-bit OS if you haven't already.

also zombie dude, buying cheap hardware and shit usually translates into shit performance, you really have to look at the difference between a great deal, and a shit product

for example, you buy a cheap PSU, there's a possibility it'll go out in a few months

And possibly take your whole system with it. I've heard horror stories of cheap PSUs frying the motherboard, GPU, and everything when they went out.
