viewing VPK/.SGA file contents

does anyone know how to open valve pack files or source game addon files?

im having some technical difficulties and it seems like theres a bunch of shady programs to try but none actually work

i'm trying to get into some of the insurgency standalone packs and its really frustrating me

i've tried to use gcfscape but it always seems to have the same effect

i select the file in gcfscape and it only gives me a folder called "root", validating or extracting it seems to do nothing

the only thing i can think of is that im doing it wrong


wait! i found out what i was doing wrong i think! i have to go through the _dir file instead
