“Only the dead have seen the end of war."
- Plato

Setting: Late 1960's, northern Vietnam.

Duration: Ideally, a week long event would work best for the medium, or perhaps like three days of events spaced out to represent different "missions."

So, how I imagine this working is that everyone signs up, filling in a chain of command of U.S. soldiers or Marines. When the event starts, you will have a chance to get to know the members of your platoon, but once you're in country, anything goes. Any death is a Permanent Kill, no matter what. War is hell, and you will most likely die. Field promotions will be plenty, giving many players an opportunity to step up as squad leaders or even the platoon commander. Death will not be the end, of course, as you will create a brand new, fresh recruit to continue playing as. Explore new character types, and try something new every time!

I'd like it to be a solid mix of S2K action, S2RP events, and passive down-time events on base. Out on patrol or while engaging in a mission, North Vietnam forces and the Vietcong could be plotting an ambush at any time. Firefights will be common, and deadly. A few highly motivated actors will play as the enemy forces when it comes time to engage, but will be instructed not to completely beef everyone. Back on base, you will be able to take a breather, grab some chow, catch up with the injured who were medevac'd out, and lament over the losses of those who couldn't make it back with you.

With the recent release of Rising Storm 2: Vietnam, I think that this is a random roleplay event that people could find interesting, and would actually serve well as a bit of history to some who might not be too familiar with the Vietnam War.

M16s and AK-47's should already be on the server, but we can add in a few flavor weapons.

Possible Map? Could work with some pretty prop work, http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=123379735
Haven't looked at this one ingame yet, but looks decent: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=124821218
Could possibly use this map for a boot camp event to kick off the RRP, or to use it as the rear base that players can passive in until the next mission: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=893041861

But I can't rp my char more than " GI GO HOME" with the vietcong and "GIT SUM" as a machine gunner.
in RS2

On a side note what about with this adding in for all those who survived a tiny thing after like a platoon reunion like 25+ years later for them to talk about there lives for those who survived.

3:51 PM - Sym: I almost wonder if you could just RP in RS2
3:51 PM - Sym: lol
3:51 PM - DiBen: I was literally thinking of that yesterday
3:51 PM - Sym: make like a private server with a mutator to remove objectives and timelimits and etc

Someone do this...

alternatively, why does nobody ever try to fuck with something like iraq/afghanistan war??? not to undershadow vietnam because that shits sweet but modern war seems to skip the radar when these types of ideas are pitched

I quite agree. An Iraq War or Afghanistan rp sounds dope as fuck.

if its for a couple of days then you can switch between urban and rural combat so

Get some RNR with some little asian lady who loves you long time and then into the jungle where charlie will love you long time with a bayonet.

idk, personally for me, the Iraq/Afghanistan war hits a little too close for me, and I'm not ready to explore that medium right now. It can be a very personal thing for a lot of people, especially our age, whereas the Vietnam War is something that is becoming more removed from our generation.

Im going to be mad if i dont get an MG position in this.
