Serious The Seven Hour War RR

I believe when this happens it should take place right before it happens then lead up into it, like being in one of the crowded cities then the seven hour war happening.
Just to say if I remember correctly the main bulk of the ground forces were Tyrants and Crab Synths so i'll watch from the sideline while the bloodbath happens.

Keep in mind the "seven hour war" probably lasted several years. It took 7 hours for the UN to formalize a surrender, apparently under the impression that fighting was futile (even if it was still capable of fighting), but that doesn't mean there were no military holdouts or that the Combine had anywhere near total domination for a long time.

In short, examining only those first seven hours would be really boring and you'd be missing a ton of potential.

e: To clarify, I'm saying there's no clear line at which point the "war" was over. It's a War of the Worlds scenario - governments quickly folded under the pressure of an alien invasion, but pockets of fighting from pre-war organized holdout forces continued for weeks (in WotW), months, or even years.

I think it'd be a lot more interesting to examine the period after the first 7 hours.

Union propaganda chooses to draw the line at the capitulation of the UN - seeing the UN as humanity's representative government - because "we knocked you down in 7 hours, why bother resisting now" is a powerful way to keep a population pacified.

As for those pockets of resistance that may have kept fighting after the war, they are just that, resistance, and God knows S2 has already explored to death that concept.

Far more interesting to explore how the war unfolds from start to finish, from the perspective of the downtrodden citizens of Earth's walled cities and the soldiers trying to protect them.

"The war" (beginning of war to surrender of what the Combine perceives as the primary human government) lasted 7 hours. That does not mean they completely conquered Earth in 7 hours... part of the might of the antagonist is their ability to rewrite history, regardless of what actually happened the war is now said to have lasted 7 hours.

A lot of people figure the 7 hour war to be the total defeat of mankind and that doesn't make any sense when examined critically... it's propaganda.

I'm suggesting examining a population/evacuation center in the aftermath of the 7hr war, prior to the establishment of regular Civil Protection forces and while pockets of fighting are continuing.

I think it'd be way cooler if we did it during the initial 7 in a city that gets completely glassed at the end of the event after an evacuation/surrender effort has been made. The cattle characters get shuttled out by drop ship or something and the cops and militias that refuse to go can have their time to shine with small skirmishes etc before everything gets nuked.

Been searching the work shop for an hour or two, can't find a good map to have this on but I did find some nice vehicles we can use for this if need be. I'll add to this when I find some more things.

I think a cleverly sewn together compilation of ep1 uprising maps could play really nicely. Not sure if any such maps exist, however.
