Rise from the Ashes; Find Strength from Within.

Snagging a lucky deal with FIFA and the Qatari government, Phoenix, a multinational food and beverage corporation seemed poised to become the main provider of bottled water and soft drinks at the FIFA world cup in 2022. The company began to rapidly hire workers from overseas to come work in their central corporate headquarters in Doha, simply brokering deals and transfering money for the time being. The event was the kind of thing where one might only hear about it from the bottom-scroll from evening news. A perfect innocuous agreement, that nobody would ever concern themselves with looking deeper into. Exactly how they wanted it. Afterall, if something seems like a conspiracy, it probably isn't.

Sure, the main employee's at their headquarters in Doha always suspected something was amiss, but it didn't go much farther than the general enterprising fraud and mischief that you always see in corporate giants like these. Perhaps their doomsday-bunker-esque workspace was odd, the amount of military personnel sometimes felt overbearing, and the 'anti-kidnapping trackers' installed in their necks were sketchy at best and wholly illegal at worst, but so what? They were being paid well to do little all day in the beautiful sandstone planes of the Middle East. The perks made it pretty easy to ignore the near orwellian searches of their person every day, or when Old Jimmy wanders into a part of the facility he's not supposed to go, claiming to have discovered shooting ranges and missile silos. It was all too easy to ignore, until it wasn't...

"Employee's of the Phoenix Multinational Corporation" the loudspeakers bellowed. "There are currently thirty-five of you within this workspace. By the end of the day, thirty-four of you will be dead. Within an hour, if five people have not been killed, we will detonate the explosives embedded into an additional ten employee's heads.

"Your chances of survival will increase by following my instructions. Rise from the Ashes, and you will succeed."

An RR based off of James Gunn's The Belko Experiment. I originally planned for this RR to be separate from any sort of outside sources but as I was doing my research, I discovered that James Gunn had already sniped my idea and made it into a movie. So why not work off of his to make my job a little bit easier?

Setting: A Phoenix-brand company location in Doha, Qatar in the present day.
Duration: 1 day only. I don't expect it to last any longer than that.
Resources: Other than the map, I think we'd easily be able to scrounge this relatively quick RR from zrp assets, with maybe a few melee weapon packs thrown in.

FAQ: (Or at least what I assume are going to be the frequently asked questions)

Q; How many people are you expecting for this thing? What if you're the first to die?

I'd estimate around 30-40 people or so. We'll see based off of how much interest this generates. With the nature of this RR, someone's just going to have to be the first to die. It may be a lame death. Hell, you may even die randomly from your head exploding. But it happens, you know? We can't all be winners here. The most I'd be able to give you would be either having observer tools to watch everything going down, or getting to play a minor soldier character for the sequence once a winner emerges.

Q; What's the policy with late joiners?
I think the best way to make this work would be to open the server at a certain time, let everyone get situated, get some normal passive-rp going, and then when shit hits the fan, that's when we close the doors. It'd be unfair to people fighting for their lives to have other fresh-faced characters just walk in like nothing in the middle of a battle royale. Maybe with notice beforehand something could be worked out, but other than that, I think that's how I'd like it to go.

Q; What can we do, and not do? What are the ooc rules here?
It's a battle royale baby, do whatever your heart desires! Within common sense of course, pretty much anything is on the table. You all decide to be pacifists? Sure. People are trying to escape the facility/cut out their trackers? Go ahead. Just know that the only complications you're going to run into are IC ones, and don't think that the manufacturers of this peculiar experiment haven't already thought of everything tricky you have...

Q; Who are we allowed to play? Do we all have to be Qatari?
Nope! Play whatever nationality/position you want! Just make sure you clarify beforehand. From a janitor to a maintenance person, to a new hire, to the head of Hr or something like that, go for whatever you feel like!

Q; How are we planning to work with powergamers/people who can't lose?
The same way it's done on the server. I of course get this might be an issue; Everybody wants to win, and no one wants to have their character eliminated first, but I'm counting on you guys to be mature with this. If a dude with a kitchen knife stabbed you four times in the gut, chances are you're already done for. You should be able to determine that without admin interference.

Q; What are we looking at for team/building needs?
I'd estimate a minimum of 6-7 or so people should be able to properly run this thing. More the merrier though. As for the map, I don't think we'd need more than 2 hours to get everything properly situated and re-decorated.

Battle Royale-E S Q U E

Japanese teenagers who know they're going to have to kill each other with weapons in an area ≠ Random office workers randomly told to kill each other with no warning or reason and with no conventional weapons.

I think they're distinct enough to be their own things, but if people think they aren't, I'd also be hyped for just a regular Battle Royale RR as well.

sounds like a really cool idea, but the biggest hurdle is people dying. especially the first kills. nobody wants to be that guy, and itd be zero fun to be that guy.

also nobody wants to die in general, so people will likely fight tooth and nail IC and OOC to live. fights would drag on for hours as people keep countering each other, and on top of that an OOC argument about who wins an exchange. equally bad is being one of the last folks to die. you go through all that time roleplaying and surviving only to die, and not get to see any interesting climax or explanation or reveal as a reward.

so its literally the belko experiment w/ a different name?

Yeah, kinda. I def want to do some stuff different; Limit the amount of guns coming in, if any, and a few other changes. I had the idea before I even learned about the Belko experiment, and just went with it when I found it. The name just comes from the decals that are already on the map.
