Serious Terminator RRs?

Not actually a suggestion for an actual RR but more of something to discuss on the idea of a Terminator RR. We've done various Half Life RRs that are set in different points of the universe, but why haven't we ever done a Terminator RR. Even though we have TRP, we never have Random Roleplays set within TnB's Terminator Universe and before someone asks "How can we do an RR based on TRP or Why?" For the first part it's simple, do a smaller story set either in a different location or time period within the Universe. Second part, why not? We've done Half Life quite a bit and TRP has no shortage of potential to share other stories. Think about this, we could follow a story about a group of survivors in a different country or perhaps create an RR that acts as a Prelude to a situation that was once dealt with(Explanation of how a major faction rises/a dangerous event occurs/ etc...) Perhaps roleplay the downfall of a survivor enclave due to various reasons that you may choose from(Be logical about it of course), perhaps a story about a band of soldiers trying to reorganize a few years after the events of Judgement day or literally right after. Not trying to promote any specific PBGs, but ever wanted to depict how a major event occurs that highly affects the history of said group? Just my thoughts, if you want to share your thoughts in this thread you can do so.

True, we've done many HL2 RR's (Before the Storm, Resonance Aftershock, etc.), but those were when we didn't have an actual HL2 server up; all of them happened between last iteration and this one. TRP hasn't had a period where it was completely out of commission in recent memory, therefore there wasn't a demand for Terminator related content in the same way. There's plenty of awesome content coming out of TRP and HL2 right now, and I feel like any event or server outside of those two would just needlessly detract from what's going on there.

If, in the far future, there's a craving for Terminator content outside of TRP, maybe there's a place for a TRP RR, but, as of right now, you've got two dedicated admin teams writing stories for both HL2 and TRP, and the only thing I can see happening to siphon the population from those two is something entirely different, like Halo.

this would put TRP in a more serious spotlight than people who don't hop on normally make it out to be, considering it's previous reputation of dave s2ks and consistent nonsensical action

i also love the nitty grittier approach to the terminator setting. it was always my dream when i had interest in the server before to play that out.

Wester is right, though. TRP isn't in the same situation HL2 was after the end of the last iteration. There isn't the same fiending for more content from the setting that HL2 had. I'm not opposed to the idea, though. Doing short events set in different perspectives would be pretty stoinky doinky. There's some obscure bits of lore about other countries (Russia and Mir, as much as I hate some of it) that could be interesting to touch upon, even if it doesn't effect the current server environment.

We did have a grittier TRP last time around. It was nice, but it also had its drawbacks. This more action-oriented iteration also has its own unique drawbacks, but I still think there's room for grit with smaller, more player focused events.

What could be done is there are a selected few targets, 4 people that can attend both days. They're randomly chosen and only the admin team and the terminator knows who they are. There can be one or two terminators, police, citizens, targets, and hell there could even be someone sent back in time to protect those people. And then the rest of us can watch on as the Terminator tears through the city trying to find those people, have wacky situations like a naked dude beating you up for your clothes. Not sure how entertaining it would be for the regular joe so, it could or couldnt work but would be fun to see.

sounds good on paper but the problem with something like this is that for most part it'd just be slice of life RP for most of the participants. for the small handful of targets I guess it could be thrilling, and police I guess could have fun being murdered by a nigh unstoppable killing machine, but for everyone else it'd just be normal day-in / day-out type shit
