I had the same problem, I thought it was just the files and shit, but soon enough I found out I didn't mount Ep1 and Ep2 and I yelled fuck out loud and my mom came in and said stop swearing then turned around and said okay mom sorry, then she left. Turning back to the computer I mounted Ep1 and Ep2 and fixed it, the end.

Bottom right corner of your screen, the controller icon. Open it up--

See the ticked Ep1 and Ep2 boxes? See if that's like it for you.
I can't really help you too much, since I'm not too sure myself.

I have half life 2, but in the mount menu it has an X over it.

I just got hl2 episode 2! I am so excited. I didn't know an episode 2 came out.

It did a long time ago.
You should preferably install HL2 and both episodes and check them in the box I mentioned above.
