What the title says. In the beginning in the main menu, its absolutely fine- but when i click a difficulty it lags and brings me to the load bar thing, where it stops completely.

Help! I really want to play this game!

Better computer. Better internet. Two major helps right there.

Check if your graphics card is updated and also post your specs in the thread.

I take it you're on a laptop, you appear to have an integrated graphics card so I'm guessing your problem there would be that it's not so compatible with the game.

Oh that's weird, search results were coming up with notebook results.

Have you tried putting your graphics settings right down low?

Verified your game cache's integrity?

Run it through system requirements labs to see what kind of level your system should be running the game at.

Make sure your steam isn't running in compatibility mode.

right click on steam
settings
in-game tab
enable steam community in-game - tick that off

Try running the game as an administrator.

Go to the icons of steam/steamapps/common/stalkercop and find the start up Icon, and right click it to run as an administrator.
