But honest to god when it comes to signalis rp (coming as someone currently running one with Delilah ) its already vague as to what period things take place anyways because time’s convoluted. Meaning Ariane and Elster are kinda separated entirely from whatever’s going on in the rest of the system.

Signalis rp is absolutely goated. Just not for TnB, I genuinely and with no offense intended, believe this community can do anything related to signalis and be respectful to the source material, or have a good enough grasp on how to tackle a storyline for it. This is my opinion on the matter but I just don’t think TnB would be good as a community for it.

Also not to really be too mean here but from a practical standpoint it wouldn’t work either considering they’d have to dev a bunch of new models and props just because with signalis rp you can’t exactly just use hl2 props and call it a day.

Also just like, to really touch on this because I think its a major thing to mention. TnB has phenomenal roleplayers and people here. Let me get that out of the way. But considering how Signalis is incredibly LGBTQ+ oriented and engraved in the communities as thus. TnB has a very BAD history with melding with that stuff. Sure they can roleplay lesbians but I don’t think people can be genuinely respectful considering the fact we’ve had like multiple schisms over problematic (neo nazis) people, and entire chunks of the community just not wanting to share a community with trans people existing.

This is with the current staff makeup in mind who are obviously accepting and such, but I just genuinely don’t think you can fix issues that deep even with a friendly staff.

considering the kinds of meaty topics that have been delved into into the past, present and will surely be delved into in the future all to great results, i think it's reductive and dismissive to implicate tnb as incapable of delving into any one particular story, setting or set of themes outright, especially considering a not-small chunk of folks playing on your server are past and present tnbers.

i'm inclined to agree with hesitate regarding it as an rp setting though, not because of any of what you mentioned necessarily but because there's not a lot of meat on the bones for the large-scale autonomous rp tnb has always made its bread and butter. strip away the fact that it's all in service of greater metaphors regarding relationships, codependency and the intersection between trauma and change and the setting is a pretty sparse if not standard totalarian sci-fi setting that doesn't have the same room for factional conflict you would see in, say, hl2 or terminator.

it's a great setting for smaller, personal stories (having done a lot of rp in the setting on my own time), because that is the kind of story the setting was made to facilitate — a character study of how elster (and to a lesser extent adler and isa) self destruct in service of people important to them. just maybe not for the more gamified large-scale stuff tnb does
