SETTING
Roughly 3 years since mankind destroyed itself in The Great War of 2013. A small number of Moscow's residents were "lucky" enough to reach the deep and complicated network of tunnels before the bombs struck. The bitterly cold winter and powerful radiation make the surface completely uninhabitable to humans, a breeding ground for dangerous and powerful mutated monsters. It's been 1 year since the Hansa-Red Line war began, and both sides are exhausted and drained of most resources. As of now, only small skirmishes and light assaults occur as both sides try to conserve their resources.
Along the Northern front, a company of Hansa soldiers arm themselves within one of their outposts for what they're told will be one of the final assaults of the war, attacking a crucial Red Line station blocking much of Hansa's logistics. Spies quickly notifying Red Line command, soldiers of the Red Army prepare the position - but lack any ability for reinforcements. Both sides prepare for the assault of their lives, tensions rise. Refugees that find themselves caught in the middle of it all are destroyed, only a few surviving with shelter from one of the factions. Bandits pick the scraps.
Within the tunnels, one would find a more human breeding ground; for radical ideas. These ideas would play a pivotal role in assisting in the formation of factions such as the Red Line; a communist organization forming from revolutionaries overthrowing the provisional leadership during the early days. They are summed up in one phrase: one party, one leader, one ideology. They will use any method to maintain order. The Red Line's army - the Red Army - consists of a majority of conscripts that are poorly-armed and only partially trained men. The war's strategy for the Red Line has remained the same - numbers.
On the opposite side of the spectrum lies The Commonwealth of the Stations of the Ring Line, more commonly known as the Hanseatic League, Hansa, or the Ring Line. Following an ideology similar to '60s USA ideals of a free market and self-made men, they are the hub of trade - a source for a vast amount of bullets and plenty of resources. More democratic, the forces still have to be harsh in the setting. Home to a better-equipped, smaller army, Hansa is one of the most powerful factions within the Metro. The war for Hansa is a deep blow, hurting their economy with embargoes and blockades. Logistics suffers.
Along with that, Bandits roam the tunnels, utilizing the little amount of gear they have to terrorize the local populace, sometimes even getting enough courage to attack Hansa and Red Line outposts or patrolling groups. They roam the tunnels in search of the next victim, opting for a more nomadic lifestyle to evade punishment. Just a big, unorganized gaggle of cowardly, deceiving scavengers, murderers, and thieves.
Within all of this lies the dwellers - more commonly seen within the area as refugees. Commonfolk making due within the Metro. Dwellers of the Red Line are either conscripted or forced to do menial labor, living off of little pay and very little food. Dwellers of Hansa fend for themselves financially. Most remain impoverished while some entrepreneurial inhabitants rise up, capitalizing off of the war and needy people.

DURATION
3 days.
DAY 1
Hansa forces prepare within their outpost. They send out patrols to scavenge for anything of use, establishing themselves within the region.
Red Line forces continue to prepare within their station, building fortifications, sending patrols out, conscripting the populace, and doing any training they can.
Bandits form gaggles and terrorize the tunnels, scavenging skirmishes and taking no sides.
Dwellers roam the tunnels, interacting with each faction and potentially joining them.
DAY 2
(Not pre-ordained, a day for leadership to run their factions and for people to RP and develop)
DAY 3
The big day. Hansa attacks the Red Line station.
Dwellers either pick a side, capitalize off of the battle, or get caught in the crossfire.
Bandits pick the scraps, or join in - who knows?

Metro Timeline
Just a little something I thought of and decided to spit out onto a post. Let me know what you think. I love Metro, and I thought this would be pretty cool. The Reich isn't even a thing yet in this, or at least it will not be present at all. I feel like 2 main factions are plenty.
