I have the same problem. After three or four tries, the game just shuts down.

Same. I checked out another thread that was pinned, and tried it's suggestions. Didn't work

After trying a few times and a few crashes later, I finally got in. Though after reconnecting my game crashed again so I gave up.

A fix has been found: Wait in the character select screen for 1-2 minutes

Yeah everytime I join I crash to gmod or desktop, not sure if it's the high player count or not, but this is my console
