That's my new motherboard, I got it to support a new processor I got.
With it, I got 8 gb of DDR3 (4gbx2), and the processor is 3 ghz quad core i5. I previously ran an AMD chipset, feels good switching over.

Anyways I sat the motherboard in, sat my behemoth GTX 260 in the PCI-E slot and put the new RAM in place, connected all the right cables and crossed my fingers when I hit the power button. It worked, but there was a black screen.
Everything seemed to be working alright, all the fans were moving, sounds were good, so I shut it off and plugged my monitor into the onboard VGA. Then it worked.

Device manager didn't even show my GTX 260, it's listed as an unknown device.
So I swapped my GTX 260 for my old 8600 GTS, also a PCI-E card with VGA output. That too, wasn't recognized.

There's not too much I can do in the BIOS screen either, I fiddled around with things but didn't really dig. If you look at the reviews in amazon/newegg for my motherboard, the more negative ones do have a fair piece to say about the BIOS being shitty. I tried to update them but my flashing was stuck at 0% for like thirty minutes, it's a miracle I didn't kill the thing when I turned it off.

What do, TnB.

Man I don't know about that one, I got one of those MSI military grade boards, works like a charm.

Did you reinstall a fresh copy of windows? when assembling the new PC? Changing motherboards and processors usually /need/ a fresh reinstall of windows.

But why.

Because changing from AMD to Intel and therefore changing the motherboards too fuck up the whole drivers of windows and you get a huge clusterfuck. Just reinstall windows and it will work perfectly.

I'm going to PK all your characters if you're wrong about this.

I've been working with computers for 8 years don't fuck with me boy.

should've got an asus

Windows installations tie to your motherboard so expect to get a registration key error when you reinstall, then sit on the phone with some Indians for thirty minutes before they give you a new key.

Tell them your last one fried breh.

i have a saberthooth 990fx and it's fucking awesome, i hate the fact that they didn't release thermal armor for the AM3+ variants, only 1155 and 2011.

send your motherboard to be checked if it is a defect. My friends pci-e slot fried and he sent it back, they told him it was a defect.

Thats why i go with asus. Sabertooth 990fx r2.0 mofucka. Never again msi

asus p8z77-pro :D

I made a friend of mine's computer using the AMD variant, the asus m5a78l. Technically the board doesn't know past the Phenom II X6 series but with a bios update it could run an FX-8350 without the slightest issue. I am very well aware that the phases will probably die in less than a year at this rate, but we are talking about a budget board that's under 50$.

i got the P9X79 with the 2011 socket, only complaint is one i've stopped complaining about after the last ten years because they can never seem to fix their double-boot issue where it starts, shuts down, then a few seconds later starts up again.

had this issue 4 times in a row not including this PC and it's a wonder I keep using asus

Need to disable/change the setting on the onboard video in the BIOS so it'll use the PCI-E.

The option should be there somewhere, even if it's a bad BIOS.

Resetting CMOS was a solution I found out when I was using my last board when a similar error occured. Taking the little battery on the board out and wait a bit before slotting it back in. (2 minutes or so.. if I recall).

Glad I upgraded over Christmas.

A new motherboard equals a fresh installation of your windows. (In some scenarios - mainly if you're making a swap from AMD -> Intel). Because alot of drivers that you have on your HDD do not equal that of an intel board. So half of your shit risks not working correctly, reinstall your shit!

So in short... JUST DO WHAT DISORDER SAID!
