Alright so I've been asking on so many forums now, Steam Forums being one of them. I just can't get any help. So here I am.
Okey so first some background information:
We have three computers. My stationary gaming computer, which I primarily use.
My mums shitty laptop which she uses for Runescape and such.
My laptop, which I barely use.
problem: when using my STATIONARY computer, steam rapes our internet. If I for example boot up Gmod, it dies and says DNS Cache unavailable. This is automatically fixed 99/100 times after 5-10 minutes. When trying to join a server, same thing MIGHT happen, if it happens once it often happens upto 10 times or so before I get in.
We have 6mb internetspeed. (Forgot the real term)
Thing is, I can play stuff on my laptop (Using steam) perfectly mine. Except my laptop sucks dick and can't run gmod.
The problem came up somewhere last year, around 1-3 months after MW2 came out. I know this as I got this problem one morning when trying to play it, and the ONLY thing I did around there was to activate Universal Plug N Play, which shouldn't ruin our internet when playing games.
I've tried basically anything. Got me and my mum new ethernet cables, reinstalled the router. Moved all wires so they don't touch eachother too much (Apparently according to someone this could be a reason). I've tried basically everything and NO change except that we don't lose internet when I just boot up Steam, first when I start a MP game.
Any ideas, suggestions? I couldn't find ANYTHING on this except for people with Linux that run their own internet servers.
Also, no I haven't called my ISP Support yet, as they're fucking retarded and ask "Whut iz this Zteam you're talking about boi?" so they're fucking useless as this problem seems to have something to do with my computer + steam.
Long ass post..no ones gonna read :(
