MOTD never closes upon character creation

If this is the wrong section, I apologize, when I join to server, I don't have a character, so when I create character it closes the character creation screen, pops up the MOTD and never lets me move, I'm stuck here looking out into the spawn.
It wont let me type in OOC because my character isn't selected, so essentially, I cannot do anything.
How do I fix this?

First off, you should have posted this in the Help and Support section.

Secondly, are you running Gmod in 800x600?
