A few days ago I started running into really shitty framrates and freezing in the caves. Basically, the game would work for about a second, then freeze for a bit, work for a couple seconds, freeze again, etc. This used to happen on my old pc with some maps (gm_atomic on trp springs to mind), but I haven't had it happen on this new one yet (probably because i havent played gmod in like, 2 years). Other guys have mentioned the issue as well, so I know it's not just me. I suspect it's the amount of rope constraints being used, but I'll have to wait until a restart to test this theory.

Anyone know a way to fix this or a console command to not draw ropes?

I know that I also experience FPS drop when I look towards the big doom-fort that's usually dup'd in the tunnel. I like it, but it really is convoluted and has a lot of props.

Not saying that's the issue, but, eh.

That thing is absolutely comical. Really well built, but totally absurd. The old barricade we had a few days ago was cool, with the barrels with spikes poking out and signs and the blown up train car thing pirate made. Looked really haggard. But yeah, I actually never noticed any frame loss today or yesterday while my gmod was working fine, so I don't think it's that.

I'm getting this right now too, which is a pain because my character is stuck in caves till this is fixed.

I've had it happen before as well, but my internet was probably hiccuping. Seemed to come in and out.

Only time I've had fps drops is when Seth the Vort has 50+ cooked meats sitting on the same table. Then I really start having some troubles.

I always get amazing FPS in the canals and caves. Sometimes I get FPS drops in the city, but only the city.

I had this problem at SRP for similar reasons.

Just turn everything down and close every other program. Then pray.
