Hello, a friend of mine gave me a Macbook laptop, it's the Core2Duo version but still works wonderfully. It uses the 10.5.8 OSX version and I want to know how can I format it, to remove anything added and reset it to factory settings. Note that it's DVD ROM is not working, always pushing the DVDs out when I place one in. Is there anything I can do to solve it? Please help!

You're probably better off googling it. I did and was able to find the answer on how on things like the Apple forums.

If you cannot delete system.32, your on the wrong system. But with Mac, the only CD drive issues I have had is putting my SD card in the CD drive instead of the SD Slot.

doing a search myself i came up with this, could be another way though:

The closest you could come to "factory" would be to create a new user account, then delete the existing one(s).

If you want to return the OS to a "clean install", you would need either the disc that came with the MacBook, or the retail Leopard discs.
