iPhone iOS 8 Uninstallable

Right, so when iOS 8 was released I found out it was a 5.8GB download. I have an 8GB phone. I don't need anything more than that, the only thing I use it for is texting, calling, pictures and the occasional small app. I stored all my pictures onto my laptop and went through deleting everything since the new iOS update is absolutely massive. The update itself is only 1.6GB, but the 'install package' or whatever is 5.8GB. I've deleted everything I can delete from my phone and I only have 4.1GB of available space, so I can't download it directly to my phone. No big deal, I figured. I'll just plug it into my laptop and update it through that, right? Wrong. Last night I started the thing to download the update before I went to sleep and it said;

And it said that when I woke up this morning too. Anyone happen to know what I could do to get the update? This is kind of frustrating.

my mum's iphone cant install it either but if its as bad as it sounds just dont bother

It's okay because the newly released iPhone 6 can't be bought with less than 16GB, so it's no big deal if you buy a new iPhone the second they're released like you're supposed to.
