HL2 Rebel Vest Costume Help

Hey everyone!
One of my mates and I are planning to cosplay (?) as HL2 Rebels for a Con in a few months.
Problem we're having right now is finding those wonderful Half Vests with a zipper and collar on them so I'm coming to you guys to help me out if possible.

We don't need to buy a vest like that outright as we're capable of doing modifications, but finding something even close to the vests that the rebels use is becoming a pain in the ass.
Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

albino made one of these once, might have some insight for you. they definitely can't be bought as far as i know.

They're metropolice vests repurposed by the Resistance, so you'd want something like theirs and then modify it yourself. I doubt anyone sells half-vests. There was some cosplay thread a while back.

What my costume group did was just get a puffy winter best, cut it short, sewed a reflective fabric square on the front, then I think they spray painted it with a flat grey spray paint

Did you use a vest that had a zipper and reattach it after or just a plain winter vest?
