Yep the Logitech G430 headset is the way to go. Really durable and better than then $150 crap razer sells nowadays. I myself have the Logitech G430 headset right now.

May I ask, I've heard a few bad things about Logitech headsets. Is the sound crisp and clear? And can you also hear distinct sounds like footsteps and such in game? Those are my biggest concerns.

i use a logitech lifechat lx-3000 and i can hear footsteps and shit well enough, so i wouldn't doubt it on the headset that he's mentioning

Oh you can hear footsteps alright. The sound does come through clearly and the price tag is a steal. Even in games where footsteps are pretty quiet like Battlefield 1, you'll hear them without a doubt.
