multimedia: sennheiser hd555 or hd598 or some big ass over-ear sennheiser
portable: koss portapro
mic: thermaltake esports shock one or razer megalodon or some cool ass razer set
I've never used the wireless version, but I know people who have and they work just as good.
I'm sure there are better headsets out there, but I've had these for five or so years now and they still work great. However, If you're looking for a set with a 3.5mm jack, these won't work.
If you want a headset, it'll probably benefit you more in terms of quality to get the microphone and headphones seperately. Unless, of course, you actually want them together.
I actually have a set of studio phones, which I use with a rockband microphone for ventrilo.
probably best to get a headphone and mic separately as I keep hearing that getting both is a sign of shit quality.
the turtle beach x12's look quite reasonable for the price though, how good are they are blocking out background noise? I'm looking for something that has full ear coverage and blocks out background noise whilst giving crisp base. Budget can be anything from $0-200, would rather it was kept near the midpoint of the spectrum.
can you simply plug in the tiamat/megalololodon into an ipod via an aux cable, right?
and does the little shitty sound control box get annoying having to carry it around
ATH-M50s would be a very good choice for you, then.
For a microphone, look into a zalman clip-on mic, they're excellent for the price they're at (so everybody says). Or even an antlion modmic(I'm going to get one of those soon).
