Graphics Card Choice?

AMD GPU/Intel CPU seems like a good balance atm and especially so with their new HBM cards
is GPU and CPU both being AMD a good idea or a bad idea? I've actually been thinking about getting rid of the AMD CPU currently in my tower since I've heard AMD isn't the greatest at CPU's

AMD FX CPUs are inherently awful at their job. While they advertise as '6-core' or '8-core', they not onlyhave piss-poor performance in comparison to Intel CPUs of roughly the same stage in development (usually the 3rd gen and 4th gen intel cpus), but while they're advertised as this, the way they're set up tech-wise is they're equivalent to about half of those cores in technical aspects. Single-core processing is horrid and they only just pass by in multi-core processing, and generally only have the benefit of a high core clock when you could just get an i5-4690k and OC it to like 4.4GHz and be done with it. The APUs don't tend to fare much better but I tend to prefer them as laptop-based processors because of integrated dedicated graphics etc.

tl;dr: if you get an intel cpu your computer will be better

you aren't aware of nvidias poor driver performance as of late and how unreliable they are when you could get an AMD card for cheaper, without all the unstable shit. you're probably getting bad frames because its a 7650M which is not only a laptop card but also really old and shit.
The frames on the card are fine, it runs well. The card's biggest issue is it turns into an oven when I run a high performance game.

Wasn't aware of nVidia's poor performance, I'll have to look into that.

a 980Ti is like £400-£500 and is really not worth it unless you're making an enthusiasts build.
Like I said, price isn't worth it for the most part.

intel also don't make dedicated video cards specifically for gaming, just integrated graphics chipsets in CPUs.
Whoops.

Is having an AMD gpu and an Intel CPU a bad idea? Do they not work together well or anything?

There's no real advantage or disadvantage. It works fine

If you're not buying the MSI GTX 970 GAMING 4G then you're gaming completely incorrectly.

My laptop came with an AMD Radeon HD 7650M and everytime I run a game it feels like I can cook eggs on my it. Get nVidia, don't get anything else unless it's an incredibly high-end Intel card.

(The NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 980 TI is alright too, especially for high-performance demanding games, but the price isn't always worth it.)
you are stupid
