GM_atomic and RP_apocalypse completely unplayable in MP

Lately, I've been unable to play either of these maps when connecting to TRP. Namely, because when I do manage to connect, the lag is so intense that I get about 1 second of any kind of control for 5 seconds of freezing.

I still can't find any reason why it does this.

RP_apocalypse used to outright crash me in multiplayer, while gm_atomic would make me crash with excess effects. I don't have HDR enabled, most of my settings are set to medium/low, and I've cleared out my particles folder, which seems to somehow conflict with my console since it continues to give errors relating to said particles when I try to connect to these maps.
 
Does anyone have any ideas? It's actually really convenient, given that I used to play on it just fine. And now I have to pray to the Old Gods that a mapchange will happen, if it's on here.
 
Load it in singleplayer and see if it has the same problem. If it has the same problem, it's likely a computer/GMod issue. If not it's a server issue.
I would suggest moving your models/materials/maps/custom stuff folders, and reinstalling garrysmod. Copy only the map over and see if it still does it.
 
It's a multiplayer issue, because it only works properly in Singleplayer.
 
ATI Radeon HD1250 series graphics, 3 Gigs of Memory, About 30 gigs remaining of HDD Space out of 125. My laptop is a Toshiba Satellite C650 or something along those lines.

I'm not sure what happened, because my laptop used to run atomic just fine, and at one point, RP_apocalypse loaded without incident.
 
Try cleanin up some space on hd. Some hard drives slow your computers performance when nearly full.
 
On further advice, it's been suggested that there's something like a model, or else something in TS2 that when combined with these particular maps, makes it impossible to play.

Other than that, I literally have no idea what could possibly be the matter. I've cleared space, defragged, done a reinstall of critical gmod files. Nothing. I seriously think that my computer's just grown too old to play this map for whatever reason.


Searches show that a member named Sirius had a similar problem. Sirius, if you're still here, how did you manage to fix it?

Also, I have +r_hunkalloclightmaps 0 in my launch settings. I remember this from the installation of EvoCity2, which required this to work properly. It hadn't given me a problem with other maps, but is it possible that this might be causing it, due to Gmod somehow updating and thus causing this command to wreak havok?
 
So far, nothing has changed. It is not a fault with the map itself. It might be that my connection is such that it doesn't fully load the map, causing problems such as connection lag.

This happens on RP_Apocalypse as well.

Is it possible that my computer simply can't handle either map in multiplayer?

Here's netgraph 1 data: The In value keeps skyrocketing to over a 1000, then plummets back to 0 everytime I have that lagspike.

I think it might be time to seriously consider an investment in some new hardware, 'Goose.
 
I don't know. Either way, it works totally fine, even very fast in Singleplayer without changing any settings.

Also it lets me sort of control it while it's lagging, it's just that it'll be 3 seconds before I actually see myself move.
 
Apoc is well known to be really pushing the limits.
Atomic shouldnt give you much bother though
