This started happening out of nowhere. Errors and missing textures everywhere. It looks as if Episode 1/2 is missing, but I have both mounted, along with L4D2.

I recently installed all 3 megapacks, so I doubt that is the issue.

Suggestions?

Try launching CS:S and joining a random server. Works for me sometimes.

Go to episode 2, open properties. Go to beta and set it to steam pipe. Should work.

If it doesn't, blame mother.

If it doesn't work. Blame Nathan. He showed it to me.

Nothing that was suggested worked for me. :(

Grim you sort of like missed a step. Make sure you know what you're talking about before giving instructions.

I didn't make this, someoene else did. I provided the original instruction, this guy just put it into user friendly instructions.\

At some point, everyone is going to experiences this problem, so you might as well do this now.

considering thats how it worked for me and that's how mother told me to do it and you told him nathan...

Why is it only broken for some people?

I actually know how to fix this, or at least how it fixed for me.

Launch your game, click the mounting area (Looks like a xbox controller)
Un mount everything you don't need (L4D2, etc), leave only your HL2 stuff and CS:S.
Restart game
Should work fine now.

EDIT: From what I understood and read, this is a similar issue that causes the RSO. It basically is that it tries to render too many things at once, so it starts getting rid of the oldest stuff or some shit. I don't know the actual reason because it's GMod.

I think garrysmod automatically validates the files before you're allowed to launch gmod, and then the EP2 content is removed since these new files are available.

It's steam-pipe

That is my theory.

Tried out the "Steam pipe" thing and launched the game, it decided it wanted to convert my EP2 to a "newer and more efficient format," which I'm pretty sure it did to my GMod already. When all of this broke, it had said it updated my EP2, and now that it's converted itself it's downloading about 2 GB of "missing content."

I'll get back to you once it's done to see if all is well again.

Yep. A known fix has been found by yours truely, me.

You want to do a few things. First you should know that CS:S doesn't have the SteamPipe beta 'Opt In' - which leads us to believe that HL2 EP1 / EP2 are what is important, which I've discovered is true.

Right click both Episode 1 and Episode 2, then, under a new tab on the far right you'll see where you can Opt into a beta. Choose the selection "SteamPipe". Try to run both Episode 1 and Episode 2. They should automatically prompt the format conversion, after which you simply run the game, then exit and do the same for the other one. And check to see that it's mounted in GMOD.

I'm not sure if this was necessary, but I checked to ensure that my CS:S was fine, as in to make sure that it also converts - if it doesn't prompt you, you have to manually uninstall it, remove the folder in the Directory "\Steam\steamapps\common", and then proceed to re-install CS:S. You should now have the message saying it is converting the file format, etc.

I just loaded Garbage in single player and there are ZERO errors now, seems to have fixed this issue for me.

/sigh of content and a dignified strut

thanks for all the input. Everyone's suggestions seemed to have worked out for me after I figured it out.
