Its been reported for loads of people, apparently its something with Steam itself.

Is there a crash report or does it just CTD?
i mean did u clear out ur entire gmod directory after deleting and reinstalling?

My connection to steam just fucks off whenever I press it

i was able to join by clicking the join button on the forums, so i guess its no biggy
