I mean, the point is to discover this kind of shit IC. I don't like it because it's a dumb system that is too easily abused, but reading up a forum OOC and suddenly knowing how to craft a resistance crossbow is pretty blatant metagame. Honestly, I should just ban you all right now.

i'm sorry, my character didn't know that they had to, for example, tape an extra magazine to their rifle and then mount a holosight so they can silence it
how can i be so stupid

but really, most of the crafting recipes are totally outlandish -

can you ICly make a crowbar with a pipe and some scrap metal?

so i think it's pretty fucking retarded to even think about banning people for checking up on whatever ridiculous recipe they need
"oh yeah my char knows that they can create crowbars and shovels by throwing a lead pipe, a few exhaust pipes and a couple car axles onto a workbench"
"oh yeah my char knows that they cant put a cloth rag into a vodka bottle and light it to make a crude molotov, they know that its only possible by boiling the vodka and putting a sheet of paper into the bottle"

edit: i dont mind the idea of crafting since it removes the hassle of bugging admins to spawn stuff that can easily be created but it gets ridiculous when the recipes turn into something like the pink comic sans example

jesus christ its a function to promote some level of trade and value in useless items like scrap metal

everyone knows you cant make a crowbar in real life from a pipe and some scrap, its just a simple dynamic to make things happen

That's not 100% true. You could make a crowbar with a pipe and some scrap, if you had a heat source strong enough to melt the metal, a mold, or you could just hammer it for a month or so. But. I see where you're going with what you said.
