Edit: The plot thickens, this effect spreads to all TnB servers now.

I've been trying to connect to coast for a good hour now, whenever I do I experience the following issues:
  • I try using the connection image on the website, the connection just times out after clearly displaying active players on the server.

  • I attempt to connect off a friend, and the server doesn't respond. There's the odd chance that it displays the server name, map and playercount, but it's extremely rare.

  • On the odd chance I actually get into the server, one of two things happen:
  • I'll connect, select a character, then my 'in' rate on netgraph will continually peak back and forth at 1073 (sometimes above), I won't be able to move, talk, or anything, I'll just jiggle around until I reconnect.
  • I'll get in and I'll be able to run around after 2-5 minutes of lagging. Upon using the water teleporter to the NLO layer the 'in' rate spiked back to 1073 again and I couldn't move, I had to reconnect. I got around to connecting again and used the tunnel teleport, I tried to swim to NLO but upon contact with the water the lag began to occur again.
So far I haven't been able to reconnect and this has been very frustrating. I've tried:
  • Restarting Steam/Gmod.
  • Getting the server restarted.
  • Restarting my router.
  • Restarting my computer.
  • Flushing my DNS
If anyone has any solutions, I'd be more than grateful.

EDIT: Just crashed using the tunnel teleport, nice.

Did you try using connect in console to see if you could connect any easier?
Did your ping spike at all or was it the same as it usually is?

Those are the only two things I can think of, because honestly I think the map and script are partly to blame. They load a few things when a user logs into the server and when more players are connected it tends to be slower.

Connect didn't give me any better results, sadly :(.
Also my ping stayed roughly the same, it was just the in rate that was spiking. Also when I was originally trying to connect there was just 4 people on the server.

Edit: Actually, no. Ping does seem to be a little bit higher.

it's what we get for living in australia necro

This is happening to me too, and I don't live in Australia.

Maybe the server Is giving you the silent treatment

it's probably host issues with ip routing, you might just have to sit it out for a while, though i'll see if i can get somebody to follow it up.

I can now connect, but when I spawn in I can't do anything because it is frozen/lagging so hard I can't move.

could those of you unable to connect post a tracert to hl2.taconbanana.com

Woke up, seems to work now.

It was most likely an issue with my ISP as I found that I couldn't go on twitch.tv either later on during the night. So the issue must've spread to multiple platforms that I didn't know and not just TnB.

All is well though, if you suffer this issue and you're 100% positive that there's nothing going wrong server-side, just contact your ISP.

MIne worked pretty soon after my last post on this thread.
