Just got my desktop back in from Florida, came boxed up and worked fine after I plugged most everything back in. I booted it up, got on just fine, installed a new Nvidia update that it prompted me for and I rebooted afterwards. It installed about 16 windows updates and shut down.

Now the problem arises, after I attempt to boot it, it sounds like it powers up correctly and all but the monitor fails to turn on. I run SLI 8800 GTs, so I tried plugging the vga into another port, to no resolve. Google failed to illicit me any useful advice so now I come to you, if you need my specs I cant get a full list but:

-Intel Duo Core 2 ( I think )
-Some older intel mobo
-SLI 8800 GT

Any ideas?

I would firstly try and use another monitor (if you have one)

If that doesn't resolve it then it sounds like the driver update for the graphics card may of fucked it. Not sure how you could possibly try and revert the drivers on it without some kind of interface though.

Plugged it into my TV [Which happened to have a VGA]; Still nothing, tried all 4 vga ports. I've checked the release notes as well for the update [I believe it was 301.42, the update] and I don't see anything that could have compromised it.

If the issue comes from when you boot onwards, and the screen never turns on, I doubt it's a driver problem.
99% of the malfunctioning hardware defects on it's first week of use.

Odd, I pulled the SLI bridge off and now I've got a screen. Im attempting a system restore now to see if that solves the issue.

Edit: This isn't a new computer, I've had it for at least 2 years now, it's something my father helped me build.

Issue resolved, restored back to before the update and now all is well. Now we just let it run and pray to the machine gods that it remains functional.

An issue occur to me like this once. I had to get a new motherboard installed. But hopefully in a few months, I can put away my petty Vista, and switch to AlienWare.

Nevermind, the problem still persists. I managed to get it running after the system restore, it restarted and did some windows updates, and then again proceeded to not boot. It's taken some time, and I've been pulling pieces out to see what the problem is-- I even re-seated the cpu. I think I found the problem though, I pulled the 'top' 8800 out and it booted up, so I'm now worried if I have a faulty graphics card, because it boots fine with just the single card. Any suggestions?

Edit: Scratch all of that, I managed to get it working -- it looks like -- so far on one card, I'm still unsure about the SLI issues though.

Check your RAM, it's messed with my Graphics card before, which caused artifacts and blue screens.
