Character doesnt save

Ive had to make my character many time now as it doesnt save itself, earlier today i found a gun and im betting its gone now because ive come off the server :(

while you are here do you know why when i download the megapack there all single files and not in folders?

Pretty much i download the megapacks and when i have downloaded them and opened them it shows the contents and there isnt folders in the megapacks,instead all the files that should be in folders are not so theres just loads and loads of files not in folders

Erm,

It sounds like youre expecting them to be addons.
They are not in addon format.

Each zip file has to be extracted into the garrysmod folder, and all the parts should drop into the correct places.
For example, models, materials, sound, etc.
All of those folders should replace / merge with the ones in your garrysmod folder.

OK then so why do i have loads of errors :/ specialy guns and custom skins and others, the only thing i see is the standerd hl2 weapons and the standered hl2skins

ive just looked at my gmod folder and all them files have all went into gmod/gmod but they havent put themself into there correct folders there just next to the folders

I'm fairly sure you incorrectly extracted the megapack as those look like texture files. You need to merge the materials/models/lua/etc folders in the .rar files with your existing ones.
Also, make sure to restart your game once you've extracted the files or they won't show up.
