I've been having this problem for the past five days and it's honestly gotten really annoying as I have no idea what caused it or why it happened. I don't know how to fix it and I'd like to know if anyone knows what's wrong.

And before you ask, yes that is a different flashlight skin, but I got that recently thinking it was a problem with the default but it still happens all the same with this. So it's not having to do with skins, it's something with the lighting or something I honestly don't know.

it seems your flashlight is only reflecting off entities which have HDR.

Seriously? I would just reinstall GMOD. Why do you even have a custom skin for a flashlight anyway

I thought it would have fixed the problem but it didn't do a thing but change the skin. Like I said I did that a day ago.

Did you delete the entire gmod folder?

I'm thinking that my HDR somehow broke my flashlight when I turned it off on Coast_03_fix (The map with the shitty-ass brightness problem), because that's when it had problems. Thing is, I've tried switching it on and off to no avail of the flashlight working again. Anyone have any ideas with this in mind now?

Did you use the launch options?

only thing in my launch options is that light allocation command or w/e it is for rp_apocalypse. That has nothing to do with the problem though I'm sure.

Anyone have any ideas still? Not having a flashlight's a pain, even if I do get things to replace it, like nightvision or w/e

try changing your gfx settings, like hdr

see if it works in Half life 2, then half life 2 ep 2.

If it does, then you know its your GMOD

If it doesn't, then i recommend you redownload HL2. If it still doesnt work, Then try Hl2ep2.

(ep2 has a much larger shader and HDR system, and its shaders are used by gmod now.)

Sadly reinstalling them didn't do anything about it. I guess I'm running out of options here.

It's possible, if unlikely that you somehow managed to shoot down one of your gcfs rather than any of the files in your game folders - did you delete those as well while doing your reinstall? You can find them in your \steamapps\ folder.

You must also observe that simply right click on Gmod in steam -> uninstall doesn't work. Not even delete Local content. What you must do is go to steamapps/username/garrysmod/ and remove the "garrysmod" folder, select, delete.

Don't do any GCF stuff.

Go to steam after having removed the gmod folder.

Launch Gmod like any other day.

bumping this. Seeing as it's a source problem now I believe instead of just Gmod, I just don't know what I can do to fix it. Flashlight's buggy in Gmod, L4D2, and I assume any of my other source games I have. I've dealt with this for 3 months now, but I'd like to somehow get my flashlight back. If anyone has any ideas that I haven't tried yet, feel free to put in your two cents. And yeah, not even a full reinstall of Steam did the trick.
