P0442 refers to a leak in the evap system, so basically i have a leak in one of my hoses that connets to my gas tank, the problem is I can't seem to find that leak in any of the hoses. Did a smoke test, found the smoke coming out of the top of the gas tank, but i can't really get to it without dropping the tank.
worldwaker says i should rub ivory soap on the top of my gas tank and disconnect/reconnect the battery to reset the sensors, which I've already done.
The ivory soap thing seems a bit iffy but if I have to get through emissions and it isn't fixed by then, I guess I'll just have to try it.

my 89' had this until i just pulled the catalytic converter to get rid of it. technically not legal in a lot of places, but it works.
anyways yeah ivory soap might work, not like it'll harm anything really unless you want to pull the tank, which is a two man job at the very least.

it's only a Ranger though, so it's about as much of a truck as an s-10 or a colorado is.

fords are shit.
Problem was a crack at the top of the gas tank and the purge valve was clogged with shit.
Gas tank was fixed, purge valve cleaned out, runs like an actual new truck now, didn't think it would make a difference in its performance but it really does run a lot better.

I've never had a problem with fords but okay
I hate GM cars but I like their trucks, especially 1970's & 80's C/K series trucks

looks pretty nice but i just like the chevy body style a lot more, no offense.
My truck except I've got low profile tires on mine, looks a lot nicer but the ride is definitely bumpier. Got a nice set of rims on it too. I'll have to take some pictures when I've got it all washed up and sexy looking.
