No, you shouldn't need DoD:S. I don't have that game and yet I see no errors or purple checkers. I tried running the map without Episode 1 installed and there were some major things missing, so you may want to purchase that to get the map at its fullest potential.

Have you activated these games in the garrysmod menu? The controller in the bottom right hand corner is where you can do this if you haven't, just check each game you have installed. Otherwise if you've already done that maybe try running all source games to menu then try the map again? I had to...

I've tried doing the record a; stop in console, and it doesn't seem to work. In fact sometimes this bug can even lead to crashes to desktop. I'm just really hoping to find a fix for this before the post hl2 rp server launches. I'm at a total loss on what to do here.

Yeah, with me the downloads seem to take a while to actually register or something. Just be patient, watch a video or something. They'll download eventually.
