Setting: Alien, a run-down remote maintenance vessel on-commission for Weyland Yutani encounters an alien artifact whilst en route to a distant colony to deliver a crew of specialists, colonists, and supplies, and investigates on their request
Duration: 1 day/night
Resources: I have some old files used in Gunsmoke to provide the setting of the ship for the map and for a lot of possible attire these slummy types onboard this vessel would wear, otherwise it's all very common workshop stuff
There's a few hundred Xenomorph model packs, we cna use any, here's one from the top https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=141762512&searchtext=xenomorph
In celebration of that terrible new Alien movie and with us already doing one event based on an old classic I get excited at the thought of a real old school Alien event. Not Aliens, and not anything new. The first movie. Just you stuck on a ship and one angry creature intent to hunt every one of you down. It'd be very much similar to The Thing event in many ways in a totally different setting with a totally different threat.
I'm imagining something that would last only one or two nights, a good spot of fun for those involved, but it wouldn't involve too many people for the simple fact that it wouldn't work by pouring in too many. A heavy tension-filled atmospheric event that relies on the cooperation and planning of the assigned crew to somehow actually survive without the use of weapons against this thing.
The difference here is this isn't some well-run civilized group like you see in the original. No, this is a worn-down scummy transport ship fore-hire run by a right bastard of a captain who's only after his next paycheck and couldn't give a fuck bout the state of his vessel, and they're cheap, so they get a lot of work. Standards are low, the people and equipment are all the lowest standard, and the passengers have anything but a nice time. Hell, even cryo in this thing doesn't work so well and regularly malfunctions, leaving the entire crew active for weeks at a time without any need to be otherwise.
It would be a very different atmosphere to what was presented to us originally and would lead to some very interesting situations, I think. No ability to reasonably fight back without destroying the ship just like the original, but now it's a very different vessel and a different sort of crew, it's a constant case of "where is it?" and constantly running, because you know it will find you eventually.
Most people would die. That's just how it is. If there are a particularly large amount who end up accepted then there would even be more than one xenomorph to contend against, probably.
