Can't select character on the canals server

When I join the Canals, the character selection screen shows up, however, i cannot select any of my characters and I'm stuck at that screen. Everything works fine in the City and I can play all of my chars there.

There you go.

There are certain spots on the map where you'll be able to make your character selectable on S2.

And before you ask, try to find them ICly, don't just run off and switch.

the reason you can't select your characters is because they're still on s1 according to the script. the transition point is a set location where you need to bring your character in order to move them to the other server.

e: and yeah like chocolate said there's a pretty lengthy travel process involved in traveling to the outlands IC so your character is gonna need someone to guide them through before transitioning

Yea you need to find the transition ICly. Don't just look it up on the forums or google. As Spam said the trip between the city and the outlands is long and dangerous so it's not like walking to work and back. Don't do what I used to do and just walk back and forth for rations and what not.
