Regarding city scanners and HL2RP CCA applications

I've always wanted to play as one of the robotic minions of the Universal Union, specifically the city scanner. However, after lurking the CCA applications I found no application specifically for city scanners. I've little interest in roleplaying as one of the actual CP units, as that would require a lot more experience and interaction than I'm willing to commit to. I'm more much interested in the robotic roleplay and the more passive interaction with other CP units that playing a city scanner would entail. The application would have me create a human character with a backstory and reasons for wanting to join the CCA, but I am not interested in playing as a CP officer at all. I do not see myself enjoying the role. I would instead like to make a backstory specifically for a City Scanner and submit my application in that fashion. I have nothing short of an obsession with the Combine in the HL2 universe, and I used to be part of a Combine HL2:DM clan where we strictly used combine speech to communicate.


In short, I want to bypass all the CP officer related roleplay information and strictly play as a City Scanner on one of my characters. It does not make sense for me to make a human backstory for a mindless robotic minion. I would like to make a backstory specifically for a city scanner and apply in that fashion. So I ask in this board, is there any way to apply for a role that entails only playing as a city scanner? Or perhaps could someone direct me to whom I should speak to arrange this?

Scanners aren't really meant to be used as characters, more as tools for creating roleplay.

The reason you are to be a CP first, is because (to my understanding,)

A: They want people they know.

B: There are two scanners per squad that FC of that squad chooses.


Having a CP is a good idea in the first place, even if you didn't want a scanner.

Ah, well that makes sense. I've only played on the city server, so I was under the impression that the scanners fly around passively observing and sometimes reporting suspicious activity using combine speech, maybe with some roleplaying regarding their robotic limbs. I would have been content doing that, but if there's more to it, then I see why its not possible to just play a scanner.
