About time I started on this thing again!

I've been working on it a bit for the past couple of days, but I felt that I would hold off on a thread until I start making more significant developments.
    what's changed (since last time):
    • Lots of brushwork/texture fixes
    • small modifications to existing structures
    • texture overhauls to near-complete sections of the map (replaced lots of nodraws)
    • Work begins on major map features
Strangely enough, the idea for massive pipes running across the map came from some sketches on scratch paper for my finals.

Here's a look at some brushwork I'm cooking up for some of Skynet's smaller structures:

Here's a look at our beautiful hotel with some new textures:
    upload_2019-6-4_13-34-7.
Lastly, I'm planning on having lots of looped ambient sounds scattered around the map to make better atmosphere. Nobody likes silent maps.
I'll add to this thread periodically as I make major changes, peace for now.
(EDIT: I might post ideas/brainstorms/drawings I have for the map here as well)

underground tech-com base that isnt a miltitary outpost/bunker

    hiding spots galore

    similar color-pallette to futurewar/pripyat

    trench network

    rubble everywhere— perpetually claustrophobic environment

those are my suggestions to thee

Small and cramped city scape. Use verticality to your advantage.

Is the idea of two opposing trenches good? I mean it would be really cool if you continued on with the whole trench system thing. I can imagine massive vestie charges and trench takeovers.

the skyscrapers never really made sense to me on futurewar because i feel like they would be easily toppled over by plasma warfare/skynet’s metal juggernauts

verticality is cool but i think its better to go subterranean than to go up

Yeah, I was planning on some negative verticality. There's already some minor tunnel stuff set up, namely by the dam.
Speaking of the dam, that area has received some attention: some aboveground brushwork and various texture fixes/additions to the main building and floodgates

Also, the exterior to Skynet's first outpost is complete!

I think im going to sketch out a quick map of major locations before I proceed further
    until then...

Verticality in maps doesn’t just mean buildings, keep in mind.

Deep(ish) valleys and terrain that blocks certain pathways can make an otherwise smaller map appear larger.

Don’t make it as flat as a pancake.

Late, but I've pretty much finished a simple "skyscraper" skeleton. I plan to have it either collapsed over the canal or have it placed somewhere else in the map.

On a side note, anyone know where I can find this metal debris texture? I'd like to use it for my map.
