Steam won't let me in

Having gone through surgery very recently I find myself stuck to a hospital bed and here I will stay for a week or so. I'm unable to log onto steam as it immediately tells me: "Could not connect to the Steam network" and asks me if I want to use the offline mode. Is there anything I can do but wait?

btw im clueless as to what causes it, everything else seems to work just fine

Firewall or the hospital you're at is blocking Steam.

Try deleting the '' ClientRegistry.blob '' file in your Steam main folder

E: Shut down steam before you do this, then restart steam after, it'll redownload the file and fix the error (hopefully)

Whatever wireless network connection you're connecting has the ports necessary to access Steam blocked. My college did this as well. They usually block the ports used by Limewire, Frostwire, etc. and Steam ends up caught in the crossfire.

Ask the staff if they can unblock it. Doubt it, but worth asking.
