Steam instability post-big picture update

Just as the title says. My client is constantly crashing now after I ask it to preform the most minute things (like open friends, send an sf, etc).

All I want to know really is if this is happening to anyone else, because its inhibiting my ability to get on server.

Mine is not.

Stuff keeps validating all the time, random games that I paused a long time ago start downloading again, all of them at the same time, making my steam client stop working when I'm doing something else with my computer.
