Recent "update"?

Apparently verification does nothing, and updating instead puts it in an endless loop.
No fixes on the 'net either.

try verifying your other HL2 games/ones that are mounted.

Also, do you happen to have Avast installed? When you verify does it SAY it's downloading a file?

I reinstalled and everything was fine.
I do have avast, yeah. It said it wass updating, but the updating was paused or something.

Alright. Disable your avast temporarily, verify Gmod, download the files/update, then try it. If that works, make an exception for steam in avast so it doesn't do this again.

What is happening is that avast is thinking that file is a virus and/or a malicious file(or however malicious a .dll can get).
