Launch Date: The 14th of September. Content - Here! You hear the church bells begin to toll not so far away, it was difficult to get away from them really. There wasn't a city block to be found without at least one church. You can't remember when religion became so important to America, it had always been a focal point of American life but lately you can't help but feel like something had gone wrong somewhere. No matter, not something for the average joe to think about. Keep the head down and walk. Walk down the street. Walk past another missing persons poster. How many now? A lot of them recently, more than usual even for this city. As the rain begins to pour you turn, your hood barely offering protection against the wind and cold. Your eyes are fixated on a number of old television sets, even though the window they're set behind needs a good cleaning. You can't make out the words but you've seen the headline before. Some couple gone missing, wandering where they shouldn't have. You can't help but shrug as you turn away. This is new york city. You can't worry about every lost soul. Paroxysm Launch FAQ Q) At what point in time does this roleplay start in? A: Be sure to read the excerpts of lore. Life in NYC. - Paroxysm: At A Glance - Paroxysm: New World Order It's important to remember that this is pre-outbreak. Your character is unaware of any viral outbreak or disease. If your character is the type to follow the main news outlets they will take note of a spike in violent crime, with cases usually involving one or two dead. Those that frequent the dark web may have some conspiratorial notions about these reports. Q) Is zombie media a thing in the world of Paroxysm? A: The short answer is no. Not as we know it in the world of today. The movies that took off and popularized the genre never did so in the world of Paroxysm so 'zombie' media in the way that we understand it is not a thing. Q) How numerous are firearms? Can we ask for some? A: There will be firearms but except for the police and for the purposes of a slow build up they will not be easily available. Melee weapons will be the main tools at the beginning, of which there should be a lot of to go around. Q): Why are there no vehicles on the road? A: Due to current strict regulations no private transport is allowed within the confines of the city block. The only vehicles on the road will be state owned or government/military. Public transport lines are still up and running upon the start of the server. Q): Can we play child characters? A: No. Q): Can we play a zombie at the beginning? A: Maybe. There likely won't be zombie playermodels at launch but there are probably going to be many little scenes where a chance to play a zombie temporarily (for the duration of the scene) will be possible. Be sure to ask in !a if you think you're involved in a scene where it might be appropriate. Q): Can we own a building for a business or group? A: There are many buildings to be used on the map. The only ones currently in use are the police department and the medical center. All others are free to be used. If you feel like you want to claim a building for a particular business (For example, there is a bank on the map) then post an authorization thread in the auth boards when they appear. Q): Content pack? A: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1466672937 Q): What time will the server be open on Friday? A: Probably around 5PM EST but I think we're all aware of how launches can go. There are always last minute fixes and problems that arise that can only be checked by unleashing a horde of players that will seek to exploit or break anything they can. Q): Is there a major event planned for launch? A: No. It would be quite difficult to fit one in here so instead we'll be using the launch day to let everyone adjust to the setting. We'll be doing our best to create smaller scenes that help set up the atmosphere of the world of Paroxysm and hope to maintain that right up to the outbreak. Q): How are donations handled for ZRP? A: Donations work a little bit differently than they did like in TRP etc. Paroxysm depends upon a certain kind of atmosphere that paying money for items in game would cause a fairly major disruption to. 1) Private donor models are allowed, at Daves usual prices. 2) Donations for weapons are allowed but with a couple of stipulations. They will not be private and you will not be spawned it upon it being added to the server. If you wish to donate to add a weapon to the server, post a thread to the auth boards so it can be approved. Do not go around this as you will simply cause myself and Dave to butt heads and the end result will be the same. With TRP dying down however I recognize that donations will probably thin out considerably, so we'll still allow donations for stats and likely some miscellaneous items. To reiterate, you cannot donate for a weapon nor ammunition to be provided to your character. With TRP donor models, as Dave said before the heads will transfer over but not any of the suits or crazy tactical armour. Also, if you would like to show your appreciation for the work Tanknut and Hoplite have done on all the scripting efforts and for being around always to fix anything that goes wrong, and also to Dave who spent a fair amount of his time creating the base models that we'll be using, please go ahead and donate. This is just for launch. A general Paroxysm FAQ can be found here.
