The Church, acting with their insiders in Government moved against and repatriated ownership of the main street bank. This unfortunately caused a riot that was violently quelled.

The Church began a series of moves against the State that lead to a serious retaliation.

(St. Augustus Dame) [EVENT] ** The Saint Dame emerges from the rooftop, after having disappeared in the lot. He's holding up those bags of money taken from the bank. They're on fire now. He pelts one down to the crowd. This continues with each bag, undeterred. **

(Brandon Graham) [EVENT] ** A news helicopter circles the area close to where the riot was happening, those watching the local news would see a fair and just headline. 'Heroic police save local residents from sick man' Theres a shot from the helicopter of the riot squad standing over a still body before the station cuts back to an anchor. **

(St. Augustus Dame) [EVENT] ** August Dame is seen in that report with his arms outstretched. He's welcoming the chaos from the rooftop of the church. His bells keep bellowing out to the streets below. There's a look of disappointment smeared on his face. **
(St. Augustus Dame) [EVENT] ** The city's population soon find that their cards stop working. The ATMs display each balance as zero. It's no mistake. The phone lines for each bank are too busy, the queues are horrendous. This is affecting more than just these streets. **

(Victor Reynolds) [EVENT] ** A news report starts to play across each screen: "I can confirm," it starts. "New York's congress is under siege. We have twelve representatives confirmed dead. The others are suspected to be involved," it pans out to the steps of a government building. The two known senators are dragged out by gunmen. **
(Victor Reynolds) [EVENT] Each of the senators, these elected heads, are strung up by the white-shirted clergymen. They're noosed, and before long pulled up to the pillars of the courthouse. They struggle, gasp and writhe, before succumbing. The reporter is silent.

(Brandon Graham) [EVENT] ** A trio of military helicopters zoom overhead, flying over the borough. They fly on to the range of large Skyscrapers to the north and to one building in particular, one of the old massive churches of the Holy see. There's nothing for a moment and then an explosion that rocks even the buildings in the borough. **
(Brandon Graham) [EVENT] ** The news briefly goes out, the screens crackling noisily for a moment before they return, a reporter and camera crew on the ground providing sight to what is now a ruined hub of the Holy See. The anchor seems to sit there, stunned. Is it open warfare between the Church and the State? Smoke can be seen billowing high up, even from where people would be standing outside. **

A new sweep team has hit the streets, utilizing members of local enforcement complete with scary hazmat attache's. No one's sure what exactly their game is but talk of percentages and the terms 'red' and 'green' are thrown around a lot.

Along with that, martial law has finally been declared and the military has moved in. The borough is effectively cordoned off and the Military have a blockade on the tunnel leading further into the city, as well as the only tunnel leading out. The little borough has become an inescapable box for the time being.

All public and private broadcasting cuts out, a long series of dials following before the national emergency broadcasting system takes over. In large font and taking up the entire screen, a state of emergency is declared. 'MARTIAL LAW' blinks repeatedly for a few moments before more dial beeps.

A set of instructions follows. A national curfew is in effect. All civilians to be off the streets at 5PM. All available local law enforcement both active and inactive must remain at their posts. All public transportation is suspended. Obey state and federal law enforcement. Submit it process checks when required. The message flashes over again before the emergency tone plays back over, then the message repeats.

It's not long after the national emergency system was used that a flurry of activity descends upon the borough. Several helicopters fly over the borough and head closer to the center of the city. The sound of a pair of F-22's can be heard and soon seen as they zip by swiftly. One of the helicopters can be seen stopping on the opposite end of the long tunnel by the gas station, they're clearly setting up some sort of blockade.

Those seeking to leave the borough or skip town would soon find themselves cut off, a tight military cordon having sectioned them off and effectively boxed the residents in.

As people no doubt reach for their phones, the networks have been cut off, most of them are now effectively useless. The public internet infrastructure has been rendered unuseable. There are ways to send messages but the method is available only to the select few with the means to provide their own private uplink.

    Important things to note:
    • The cell networks are down. Phones are mostly useless.
    • Access to the internet is limited severely. People wanting to get something out there will now need to locate people who utilize their own network. We can't stop people from just ass pulling this, but maybe just don't.
    • There is a curfew, whether or not the enforcement that's left within the borough feels like they should enforce this is another thing. The military maintaining the check points turn back everyone and refuse to liaise with any of the law enforcement inside.
    • Electricity remains on for now.

    10/12/2018.

It has been a long two weeks for whoever is still breathing in the city that never sleeps. Endless mobs of the waking dead flooding the streets have given way to an eerie silence in the latest neighbourhood the disparate survivors of Manhattan have settled in, thanks in large part to the National Guard's valiant (and costly) defence and destruction of the bridge into the area.

What remains of the 42nd Infantry's presence in the area after the loss of their company commander and numerous enlisted men as a result of the defence of the bridge now settles into a new base of operations; one that has been destroyed by the Church, its inhabitants massacred to the last man. What few communications that come through from Fort Hamilton tell of a scene of chaos at Headquarters, in disarray from desertions, mutinies, and infection paired with a lack of supply and an influx of civilian refugees.

The Holy See's followers, forced out everyone else, now find themselves in decidedly more humble dwellings. With fewer personnel and supplies, the Church turns inward, becoming more hostile towards prospective dwellers in their midst.

The war between the Holy See and what remains of the American government continues all across the United States. The military and the See settle into new poorly supplied and defended bases for a protracted conflict after the clashes between civilian supporters of the two factions, which culminated in the destruction of Haven by fighters from the Joint Task Force.

All the while, the CDC works itself to the bone in makeshift laboratories and medical tents, trying to find any information on The Condition which has destroyed life as they knew it and eluded all attempts at classification, much less understanding.

With a civil war on one side, the ravenous undead hordes on another, paired with dwindling supplies and a record shattering cold snap in October, it's not going to be getting any easier for New York's remaining survivors to live through an apocalypse none of them could have seen coming...

    NYC at a glance:
    • It's cold. Really cold; 25F currently, and it's going to go lower. Wrap up warm.
    • Power is on current, but it's inconsistent and brownouts are common. Don't take it for granted.
    • The dead have found their way into the area, but not in overwhelming numbers yet.
    • Whoever was here when the outbreak started got the hell out of dodge quick, and took most of the supplies with them. You're probably going to be hurting for food here.

    10/14/2018.

It's been a busy weekend for Manhattan's struggling survivors.

The Lissandra Harlow Correctional Facility staff, desperate for aid, call for outside help in their efforts to escape from the prison. The help arrives in the form of several ragtag groups of Manhattan residents, who find themselves caught up in the conflict between the prisoners and their former jailers, bad blood still spilling forth from before and after the outbreak. After a mass of the dead come knocking on the prison's door once the power is reactivated, however, the struggle between prisoner and guard melts away into a mad dash to stay alive, culminating in the prison becoming a hive for the undead and the streets being made even more unsafe than before.

Barely a day after, the power to the entire block abruptly cuts out, leaving everyone in darkness. When the electrical workers send out a transmission, the block responds, electing to trek back and forth across the area to help return light to the neighbourhood. However, at the end of their mission, the main power generator explodes as it is turned out, attracting a massive horde and forcing the remaining humans out of the area, while the power workers sacrifice themselves to allow the others to escape.

The residents of Manhattan arrive in a semi-rural area of New York State, hungry, cold, and frightened. They watch helplessly as the Holy See arrives in force to abduct women and children, forcing them into vans, before driving off into parts unknown. Shortly after this, a major firefight broke out between civilians, the CDC, and Community Outreach officers, leaving bodies and bullet casings strewn across the streets. As the temperature continues to plunge and supplies becoming even more scarce, it is more unclear than ever just how they will survive the apocalypse as it continues to drag humanity into the darkness.

    New York at a glance:
    • We're moving into more rural settings. The dead will be sparser, but so will supplies and help.
    • It's getting colder still, 20F and falling.
    • The conflict between the Church and the rest of civil society is still ongoing, and isn't slowing down. Tread carefully.
