    TECH-COM FORWARD OUTPOST, NORTHERN PERIMETER

    LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA

Following the Fresno blackout and Bakersfield Company retreating into Mexico, SkyNET had seized the opportunity to initiate a campaign of vengeance down into the south, blazing through the remnants of Fresno and Bakersfield. Now, it knocks at the door of TechCom's headquarters in Los Angeles, where the front lines are littered with corpses left in the wake of the onslaught.

Ashes pollute the sky with the fires of settlements and outposts as they trailblaze through the coast. Blood stains the air itself- the machines have redefined their ferocity. Less humans are being taken alive while more and more are being buried beneath the bones of their predecessors between the ruined concrete spires of the old cities.
In the absence of Bakersfield Company, Southern California had become a tomb that spanned for miles.

The orders came down from the command circle after little deliberation: Bakersfield and Fresno must be reclaimed if TechCom is to survive the advance of SkyNET's forces. The geographical regions of the territories provide sufficient advantage in holding the line against the Terminator broods in Northern California, and without those strongholds to hold them at bay TechCom's grip on the province will perish. The masses in uniform say what could possibly be their final prayers before they are sent off to what may be TechCom's last stand against the machines.

Victory or death. There is no other way.

Little thing I'm cooking up between myself and @shinzokk. I plan to have this go through the month of August and it'll probably finish right before ZRP launches. Hope you enjoy the ride.

    AN UPDATE FROM THE FRONT

    TECH-COM FORWARD OUTPOST, WESTERN PERIMETER

    LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA

When Bakersfield Company arrives in Los Angeles, they find that the reports from the front lines do not do the fields of gore justice.

Tank treads rake the landscape overtop crushed skeletons of those who died in the initial blasts decades ago. Their skulls litter the streets and hills of the war zone like poppies on a hillside. It has been years since TechCom has been locked head to head in such a conflict. Blood marinates the ground, while dust and ashes rain from the sky. This is the battle that Los Angeles company has been struggling through for weeks- this same, bloody conflict that seems to go on forever and ever. Nobody has slept, because the terminators do not let them.

Now, with the assistance of Bakersfield Company, TechCom must push back and defend the last bastion of hope against the SkyNET threat. If headquarters fall, the network of TechCom's presence across the globe will fall into disarray. Humanity will plunge ever closer to extinction. This is unlike any battle fought before by Bakersfield Company. It is not just for their lives that they fight. It is not just to prevent a setback or to live another day. If Los Angeles falls, it is the end.

    AN UPDATE FROM THE FRONT

    SKYNET AERIAL-BAY, WESTERN PERIMETER

    LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA

The attack on the SkyNET air-field was a success, but it was not without great casualties.

Many lives were lost soon after the swarm of hunter-killers took flight, relentlessly barraging TechCom from above with swift efficiency. Within time, they were shot down and destroyed alongside the rest of the drones that pursued them as they ran back to base. It would mostly be considered a victory.

    But something else was amidst.

SkyNET is a vengeful entity, and so it was only fit that it returned the favor and revealed its hand to the table. A large column of light shot out from the railgun placed atop of the bridge and crashed down onto one of the outposts in a nearby skyscraper, where a Los Angeles Company team was stationed. At one moment, the building was there. At another, it wasn't. Vaporized, deleted from existence by a powerful weapon.

If TechCom is to proceed and push against the SkyNET advance, the railgun must be eliminated.

Well, not everything exactly went to plan with this operation. It was a lot smaller than I wanted it to be and there were a few hitches that were hit that at one point required us to void something and rewind due to someone misunderstanding something.

But in the bigger picture, it went a whole lot better than I imagined it would considering I was running the event from the ground as a player trying to communicate with twelve people over PMs at once. I just wish it was a bit more grand- it didn't exactly go for as long as I wanted it to, but that's okay. There's plenty of time for more events in this campaign and I intend to push forward with those.

I hope you enjoyed day one anyways, though.

    METRO STATION, NORTHERN PERIMETER

    LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA

SkyNET struck back hard against TechCom's forces embedded beneath the surface today, and it came with extreme casualties. Anyone that fell short of the evacuation was not taken alive. For the veterans of the future war, it was one of the most gruesome SkyNET assaults to date. No one was prepared for the onslaught that spanned for hours and hours. Harvesters lurked overhead while a few spare HK-Aerials lurked from nearby regions- but certainly not as potent as before.

Artillery continued to slam against TechCom's forces at random due to the inability to triangulate their targets. Anything south of the canal was scorched earth. Many lives were lost both among Bakersfield and Los Angeles companies. There was no victory to behold this day. Only the mercy to lick their wounds and do a headcount to find out who was left behind and slaughtered by the SkyNET's titanium legions.

And still, the worst had yet to come.

    FOB OMEGA, SOUTHERN PERIMETER

    LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA

Fighting raged on elsewhere in Los Angeles, a desperate act from a species backed into a corner and pushed to breaking point. Intelligence collected from reconaissance gave TechComm the opportunity to alleviate this with a strike on a potentially vital target, a rail terminal being used by SkyNET to shuttle materials across the dead city towards its production facilities far out of reach.

A tempting target, TechComm seized the opportunity and set its forces to work, using Bakersfield Company to slip sappers through a gap in the machines' patrols to set charges on the shuttle. As it departed for its intended destination, those same charges were detonated, causing the carriage to derail and collapsing the tunnel in the process, a substantial blow for a force already harried and disrupted by frequent guerilla attacks upon its heavier units and cargo convoys. Whatever success this may have proved for the human resistance miitia, however, it was only a temporary matter.

Provoked, SkyNET dispatched the original shuttle's escort unit to strike at TechComm as they retreated for the safety of the encampment, using the barren streets as a vector for tracking their movements before loosing their wrath upon FOB Omega. As a combined group of terminators attacked the forward defenses, an additional eight hundred series terminator moved in from the flank and succeeding in breaching a gap in the compound's defences. In the fierce fighting that followed, countless were wounded whilst two lives were directly claimed by the flanking eight hundred terminator, a unit which exhibited an extraordinary level of resistance to plasma fire and proved even more adept in combat than its standard brethren. Only a combined, desperate effort from both TechComm and a reprogrammed terminator saw their assailant destroyed, at a high cost.

TechComm's success proved more resemblant of a pyhrric victory.

    PERIMETER WALL

    LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA

With entire sections of downtown Los Angeles cut off by a combination of fortifications, machine and massed artillery strikes, TechComm had effectively been blinded and defeaned to what was going on outside of their direct scope of operation, unaware as to what lay beyond the perimeter wall established by SkyNET.

With the aid of two surviving LA Company fighters, a small group moved towards the western side of the wall and slipped through to conduct reconaissance, making a disturbing find; massed artillery cannons, fortifications and what appeared to be other ongoing constructs suggesting that the machine armies were consolidating their position whilst none were able to contest them.

More alarming was the discovery of two prison camps littered with the bodies of the dead, suggesting that any survivors caught behind the frontline had and still were systematically rounded up and executed before any further disruption could take place. SkyNET did not fail to notice this incursion, either - the two LA Company fighters did not survive the journey past the wall, their escorts barely making it back through at the cost of further injuries and lost resources.

A sliver of hope remains - the valuable intelligence gained from this incursion may prove vital to the war effort, whether the enemy understands this or not.

    AN UPDATE FROM THE FRONT

    08.17.2025 - 1931 HOURS, PACIFIC STANDARD TIME

SKYNET COMMUNICATIONS RELAY STATION, NORTHWESTERN PERIMETER

    LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA

A war fought without blood is no war at all.

At the reach of the evening, a helicopter returned to the Metro facility carrying Los Angeles Company's own Lieutenent Carsleigh- the strategic aide from Headquarters and the man in charge of the defense effort at the line drawn in LA. His arrival came with the long awaited battle plans for the siege on the wall, what must be done before, and the long journey ahead that was carved out for Bakersfield's forces.

The shipments and munitions that were coming in from all parties around- San Bernardino, the 22A, the Navajo Long Rifles, BIO-II, the 44th ATU- even a bartered deal with the Silk Road who had long since been at odds with TechCom, was struck in the name of the war against machines. Weapons, ammunition, medical supplies- even artillery weapons were distributed at TechCom's doorstep to help them along the way. Beyond the wall, there were no TechCom outposts to settle into and there were no allies to call for aide. The path they blaze would be the only route in and out of where they were going, and that was north- directly into the heart of enemy territory.

But before they could embark, they would have to get through the garrison that resided beyond the wall in the canal. And before they could do that, they would have to destroy the communications relay that informed the surrounding areas of TechCom's movements. If they were to lay siege beyond the wall and leave this station untouched, it would surely invoke the wrath of a threat that TechCom could not possibly hope to overcome.

And so after much planning and debating, TechCom set out to assault the facility. After a brutal brawl on the ground floor of the canal and a long push into the central tower, TechCom planted charges and ran for cover. As the inferno climbed to the stars against the night sky, Harvesters were dispatched to scour for lingering saboteurs.

But they were long gone by then, licking their wounds and resting easy atop their victory hard earned as they prepared for the siege of tomorrow.

AN UPDATE ON THE WAR EFFORT

    SOUTHWESTERN SEABOARD, CALIFORNIA
    AUGUST 2025

LOS ANGELES province is now under TechCom control.

BAKERSFIELD province is now a Contested region.

    SKYNET MAJOR, BEYOND PERIMETER WALL

    LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA

After a long, grueling battle of blood spilt and titanium alloy shattered, only one victor emerged. The sun rose with TechCom and SkyNET charging head to head, and it set with humanity standing triumphant atop a mountain of machine corpses. With SkyNET's forces diminished for miles around, its remaining troops retreated across the border from LA and into Bakersfield territory. SkyNET Major was theirs. Los Angeles was theirs.

With the immediate threat diminished, Los Angeles Company secured their footing in the area and began excavating data and materials out from the captured facility. In time, the event may become a crucible in the war effort. Meanwhile, Bakersfield Company prepared to depart for their journey into the province of Bakersfield itself. Home.

As they left the ruined city of Los Angeles, they headed further into the belly of the beast. SkyNET's forces had taken up residence in former Bakersfield installments, to which they would need to recapture in order to maintain footing. While the command personnel locked themselves away to prepare for the battles ahead, the bulk of TechCom's grunts and gunners took in the breath of fresh air away from artillery and constant bombardments, licked their wounds and mourned for the dead. For once, they might catch even a minute of sleep.

    CONTINUED IN OPERATION DAYBREAK

// Today was a blast, I hope you all enjoyed it. There's a lot more to come from this as we venture into Bakersfield and Fresno, so hold onto your seats.

If you're interested in helping plan out events, I'm more than happy to take on hands with drafting up things to do in the campaign. PM me!
