A good portion of the servers I go in will crash after about 5 minutes of being in game with the error:

Lua panic! Something went horribly wrong!
"Not enough memory"

I recorded my memory usage before and after I launched GMod, including when I went into a server, and my usage spiked from 20% to 55%.

I do not know how to fix this, how to fix a memory leak, or hell, even if it IS a memory leak, but I asked around, and I was told a spike this big means I have a memory leak.

Could someone please tell me how to fix it?

verify your game's cache

best guess is that you need to reinstall gmod, as well as removing addons

I verified my cache and reinstalled quite a few times, but hey, I'll try again. No harm in trying it again.

Unlikely that it's a memory leak, it's just Lua failing to allocate memory and the reasons can vary a lot.
It could mean that you don't have enough RAM/VRAM to handle the addons and/or the map.
Also try updating drivers and running GMod on lowest settings.

If it produces a dump then upload it as well.

I have 16 GB of RAM and tried setting 8 GB of RAM for JUST GMod.

Next time I crash I'll post the dump file.

likely that you just don't have enough memory to run the stuff

I have 16 GB, and allocated 8 GB to just try and run GMod.

check ur virtual memory m8

make sure you arent using 2 gigs when u should be using 16

if all else fails reinstall

I'm using exactly 12236 MB, or 12.236 GB.
Should I change this or leave it as is?

1 gig =/= 1000 mb, if only computer bytes used metric instead of exponents of 2

anyways tbh id just lower ur textures to medium or something

he's not fuckin folding proteins dude

he's running gmod

16 gb is TOO MUCH

You guys need to lighten the fuck up

Not sure if this will be reassuring but there's no guaranteed solution for this. Most people who have had this issue say it goes away on its own in some time.

Launch the map of the server you're connecting to on a local server and then connect.

If that won't work, try re-installing and re-mounting all Source games.

See if you can cut down on some of the subscribed addons, make sure you're running GMOD and Steam in administrator mode, and also reinstall the game itself.

It's a pain but from what I'm reading it might fix it, but Jake is right; there's no 100% fix for this ATM.

Alright, so I did some testing, and it seems that this bug ONLY happens when I'm on a server that uses a DarkRP base.
