More ways to kill time while you wait for HL2 to be finished

NOTE: It's a whitelisted server, so post your minecraft username if you want to get in

Server IP: minecraft.taconbanana.com
Modpack: https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/363384552082636803/589482038940139540/Taco_N_Banana-1.3.zip

Instructions
  1. Install the Twitch client from https://www.twitch.tv/downloads/ if you don't already have it
  2. Browse to the Mods tab, click on Minecraft
  3. Go to "Create custom profile" and click on "import" in the line "or import a previously created profile". Open the .zip file from this post.
  4. Go back to "My Modpacks". When the install is done, you should see an option to launch the modpack. Don't start it up yet!
  5. As a final step, go into the Twitch client settings by clicking on your account icon in the top right and navigating to settings. Click the Minecraft tab and scroll down to the Java Settings part. Set the allocated memory slider to 5 gigs, 6 or even 8 works too if you can afford it. Note that you might run into issues on 5GB if you do a lot of travelling or hop between the nether/overworld a lot. Paste the following in the "additional arguments" box:
    Code:
    -d64 -Xms5G -Xmx5G -Xmn128m -XX:+UseG1GC -XX:+AlwaysPreTouch -XX:+UnlockExperimentalVMOptions -XX:MaxGCPauseMillis=100 -XX:+DisableExplicitGC -XX:TargetSurvivorRatio=90 -XX:G1NewSizePercent=50 -XX:G1MaxNewSizePercent=80 -XX:InitiatingHeapOccupancyPercent=10 -XX:G1MixedGCLiveThresholdPercent=50 -XX:+AggressiveOpts
If you have enough RAM to spare, change the two settings at the start to higher values (example: -Xms8G -Xmx8G instead of -Xms5G -Xmx5G)
  6. Start up the modpack, you'll probably be prompted to log into minecraft itself at this point if you haven't yet
  7. At this point you can tab out and wait for it to finish loading, you'll hear a ding when it's done. It should take about 1-3 minutes on a modern computer.
Tips
  • /spawn teleports you back to spawn and doesn't have any cooldowns
  • /back will send you back to wherever you were prior to your last teleport, it can also return you to your death point
  • /sethome and /home allow you to set a custom home anywhere you want and teleport to it
  • Hitting J will open a fullscreen map, - and = will zoom your minimap in and out
  • You can claim chunks from your inventory by using the options in the top left, invite people to your team to allow them to edit blocks in your claimed chunks
  • No idea what to do? the Akashic Tome is your friend. Right click it in your hand to morph it into any guidebook the modpack has. Shift + left click it in the air to turn it back to normal
  • Hitting R when hovering over an item will bring up it's recipe while hitting U will bring up what that item can be used for
  • If performance is an issue, optifine might be worth considering. It doesn't always play nice with modded minecraft but it might help (drop the .jar file in your mods folder, you can get there by right clicking the modpack in your Twitch launcher)
"""Rules"""
  • Don't be a cunt
  • PVP is enabled, but treat the server as a co-op experience. PVP inside claimed chunks is not allowed unless agreed to by both parties.
  • No "raiding"
  • Don't grief shit
  • Don't make huge eyesores or destroy parts of the map for a laugh
