Los Angeles, April 92
*Ring*. . . ."Yo It's James, Ms. Durfort wants to stay another weekend here. She isn't deturned by what's happening on the news. So notify them to keep the containers in the Port of Honolulu, we got the others divided up in into smaller packages in a hanger over at L.A.X . . .Yeah, we're gonna be leaving from a plane, Monday. Ms. Durfort also requesting a boost of security. . .No, it's not about what's on the news. She senses something else, *sighs* She thinks there might be some heat on her and the containers."

"Yes, sir"

"We Intercepted it around 00:00"

"How long do we have?"

"Two-Three Days."

"Hmm, very well. Commence with the elimination of HVT."

Rook, off the phone during the briefing, ok...Alright as I was saying, Orders are to eliminate Hvt and retrieve intelligence on any assets deemed of value."

*Rings*

Yes, Agent.

SCP-4003 has been exposed, requesting Task Force Stigma 6 be deployed

And Where to?

Los Angeles, Ma'am.

She's there on vacation it seems.

Who's after her?

Global Occult Coalition

*Sighs* Fuckwits

Um, Ma'am?
We also have an asset at play
requesting if they are exposed
Exact for them as well.

LA 92 will consist of Three Teams, The Arms Dealers Henchmen( Durforts 11 ), Task Force Stigma 6, and The Nightriders. Everyone will be divided into the teams they wish to join. Citizens won't be appearing directly sadly, due to the narrative-centric focusing on these three fighting and will be relatively short. Lasting only a day.

Apologies for the choice of the map. I didn't have any good choices.

there was already an scp rr suggested wasn't there

SCP rp is obnoxious for plaguing the gmod community

Serious scp rp must be the failed attempt of a reverse engineered cancer cell

For real tho being a task force doesn’t sound like a bad concept, and especially since it’d be for one day, but that’s the thing, what are we gonna do in that one day? Shoot the scp, shoot the bad guys, or get mauled by SCP?

I haven’t really thought about it creatively, but I’m open to ideas, really. Right now I can’t really see how this could turn out to be fun...

You realize this is around the time the Rodney King riots were going on in Los Angeles, right? That's not a setting that I'd be willing to trust people with.

Hence why I did a day, and since SCP is large and canon is all over the place. I decided to make a canon fit within this RR, and SCP's are diverse not all act like feral creatures.

Of course, why you think it's called and takes place in Los Angeles in 1992.

SCP roleplay has historically been the problem-child and flagbearing misrepresentative of Gmod RP as a whole and through that it has such a vile reputation in my mind that I can't seem to shake.

I'm certain you have a pretty cool idea in mind but I'm just trying to envision an application that doesn't just spiral into those SCP-themed DarkRP servers and I think the only way you could is if you focused an a more horror-themed setting for SCP rather than something angled towards militaristic takes on the setting.

This too.

id love a more horror themed scp rp because there are tonnnssss of great opportunities in the universe that id love to play around with. not sure if this is the right way to approach it, but scp rp itself would be great for a weekend

I feel like if I did horror it wouldn't be great. And as someone who's more personally into espionage thrillers and political dramas, I wanted to do an RR that fits with that.
If I did horror, I wouldn't be restricted with what to put down as the monster. But I didn't want this end up like some SCP: Containment Breach, it's not really original and I feel it'll be more uninteresting.

I think there are way better settings for espionage thrillers and political dramas than SCP. From what you're telling me you wanted to do an SCP RR and you wanted an RR with espionage and political drama, and in turn you slammed both of them together.

I think those two things separately are great and grand ideas but together it really just doesn't feel all that exciting to me.

I agree, on paper, it may not be exciting. But I ensure you when you witness it, you may be persuaded.

Yes. An interesting setting, but also an infamous race riot that is still a sore subject today and is only increasingly relevant with the growing militarization of the police in the last two decades.

For some context, here's how the Garry's Mod community handles other sensitive issues:

I understand, but I trust that people here aren't gonna be on that level for the RR.

I'm not saying you should be forbidden from using a controversial historical event as a backdrop to your setting, all I'm saying is tread lightly with that kind of stuff.

Trust me, SCP writings cover a lot. And can fit in almost any setting, It's just people tend to know the horror side of it than the others.
