Historically, the faction has largely been shrouded in secrecy to maintain the fear of the unknown. In what I can expect many to see as an eye-openingly controversial move, we are opening the veil slightly, both for players to understand infiltrators better when roleplaying with or against one as well as to better inform infiltrator faction hopefuls constructing their application.
What is an Infiltrator?
An Infiltrator Model is a specific type of Terminator tasked with posing as a human and has been the reason for the recent most Terminator series' likeness to the human skeleton. A variety of generations of infiltrators exist, dating back to the Series T-600 and ranging to the more common Series T-850. For all intents and purposes moving forward, when this thread denotes infiltrators, it is putting detail into the successful Series T-8xx infiltrator models.
Much is different from the commonly deployed combat models and their infiltrator counterparts. The model is manufactured to weigh less to aim around the average weight of a 6'2" human, (200lbs) however final weight may vary as the bio-synthetic skin and flesh sheath generally adds anywhere from an additional 10lbs. to 30lbs. to the infiltrator. This weight-adjustment however is noteworthy for the infiltrator however, as it is thus weaker to phased-plasma weaponsfire due to being thinner- an adequate trade for its ability to pass among other humans. This of course does not mean to denote the infiltrator models as weak in any way-- they are still quite impervious to a great deal of ballistic weapons and should not be underestimated.
The sheath of an infiltrator is its most important asset: A bio-organic mesh of flesh, synthetic blood and even skin cells and hair is wrapped over the model. It is grown around it after the endoskeleton has been manufactured, and is frozen until it is ready for deployment. The sheath is capable of imitating sweat, tears, extremely limited bleeding, bad breath, body odor, and more. The sheath can also grow back overtime using an electronically powered membrane at the bottom of the sheath-layer, immediately atop of the endoskeleton. The sheath regenerates approximately an inch a month, however any damage exceeding 40% of the surface area of a limb or damage done to a complex area of the sheath (such as eyes or inside the mouth) has been known to not grow back properly, or in many cases not grow back at all-- the membrane becoming far too damaged to regenerate the sheath and thus begins decaying entirely.
Each sheath model is copied from that of an existing human who was extensively deep-scanned using SkyNET equipment. Anyone who has ever been branded by SkyNET has been scanned, and has been added to an ever-growing database of humans and their physical likeness.
The infiltrator's CPU has also been met with a range of adjustments to address its role in sabotage, espionage and the likes, as well as a read/write module. Through this, it is capable of an advanced level of learning through observing behaviors and can eventually even assume behaviors through guessing based off of gathered information.
The Role of Infiltrators
Like the rest of SkyNET, its OOC mission is not entirely true to the moniker of being a 'Terminator' as its main mission is not to rack up character kills. To reiterate the golden rule of SkyNET:
This mantra remains entirely true even to the infiltrator faction only to one notable difference: Infiltrators are characters to an extent-- using its activated read/write module. However, it still remains a tool to execute the above mission of offering entertainment and satisfaction to the human body of the server. And so while occasional instances of sabotage and espionage are sure to be abound, the main thrill is to be found in personalizing the experience for players, making them realize that a human they trusted was an infiltrator all along.Your role as a Terminator is to recreate the atmosphere of terror in the post-apocalyptic Terminator universe, both individually as a player and as a whole as part of the faction itself. As a SkyNET player, your own personal enjoyment is secondary to that of human characters, but it is recommended that you find enjoyment in the mere act of creating an enjoyable atmosphere for those characters. You are an actor; a stagehand helping to draw a scene together.
Voice communications are not only allowed between SkyNET players, they are encouraged in order to maintain as much communication between one another as possible. Together, as a team with your fellow SkyNET players, you will draw together a cinematic experience for all to enjoy.
While you are playing a Terminator, whose sole purpose is to 'terminate' its foes in roleplay, your primary objective out of character is not to kill your opponents. It is to envelope them into a larger story, and use your Terminator as a vessel to that end.
Applying for Infiltrators: OPEN
The new application has been adjusted to leave things more open-ended for those who do not know the finer details of being an infiltrator.
It is important that you do not disclose your intent to apply to the infiltrator faction to those not within the administration or command. The roster of the infiltrator faction is intentionally confidential.
You may fill out the following format and send it to Kemikals via forum PM.
Applications will remain open indefinitely, however if we are at an excess you may find that your application is put on hold. Infiltrator applications will be reviewed by the players within infiltrator division itself, internally.
While being in SkyNET is not required, it is preferred.
Name: SteamID: Requested Infiltrator Digits: Are you in SkyNET, Tech-Com or both?: How long have you been playing on TRP?: In your opinion, what makes you qualified to join the infiltrator division?: From an OOC perspective, what do you believe the role of an infiltrator player should be in the server?: Summarize a potential scenario with your potential infiltrator character, and how would you make the most of it for the enjoyment of other players? (Be as descriptive/brief as you wish. No minimum length. You may use an example scenario, or make your own.) Example prompts: [LIST] [*]Your infiltrator's sheath has been damaged in the field.
