So, tonight, as I try and start up Gmod, it refuses. I promptly try again and it still doesn't work.

I start up Task Manager (pinned to the taskbar already), and start Gmod again.

The process for Gmod starts, gets to about 3mbs of memory used, then shuts down. GameOverlayUI also starts, but again terminates with Gmod.

I've restarted Steam, I've verified the game files, I've restarted my computer AND I've reinstalled Gmod.

NOTHING IS WORKING!

Help me, geezus.

Disable game overlay? Also try installing every HL2 game you have.

TBH I've had this issue too but not recently. It usually sorts itself out after a day.

This may not help at all, but I get that issue occasionally. I learned that you can actually fix it sometimes if you mix up your launchers, such as a Desktop shortcut, steam shortcuts or Steam Library. Sometimes running it off a desktop shortcut actually launched it when running through the Library wouldn't.

Well, I've decided to do the most drastic measure... Reinstalling Steam.

This'll probably fix it, since I was still using the Steam client from 2008, just updated...
