title
it took me five tries to get on s2 without crashing earlier today and it's still happening regularly at random intervals

always a clean ctd so i have no logs or anything of that sort, and i validated my game files too
does anyone have the same problem? some stability fixes, maybe? anything?

small update maybe
i think it always happens when i enter a new area of the map that needs to load first but i dont get why this is happening now when it worked just fine before, and i have no way of really checking this because idk which parts of the map work like that

i had this problem on a c8 map, updating my graphics drivers helped.
worth a shot

Do the usual round-about:
  • Verify integrity
  • Update drivers (A clean update, google how to do this with your graphics drivers. Just doing a normal update where you overwrite does not always work)
  • Reinstall maps

The next big thing you can do is go to your garrysmod/garrysmods/cache and just delete everything in that folder. It's a bunch of shit that's made when you start garry's mod, use workshop addons or connect to servers, and clearing it frequently is a basic thing to do to ensure GMod stability. Maybe get in the habit of doing it often if it helps.

Beyond that, there's not much you haven't heard before. This kinda stuff happens when you play on a game that is basically a third party mod crafted from the remains of other Source games that has its own third party mods made specifically for it (fourth party mods??) and you play on a server that is based on one of those fourth party mods (third party server for a third party mod on a third party game). Issues are bound to crop up for certain people and not for others. It's all very janky.

Try adjusting the DirectX level too. May be using an older version by default that can't load certain textures on the map.
